Recreation
The majority of recreational activities and facilities described below are included in the room rate for this resort (scroll up to the All-Inclusive details section for more information).
Featuring four beaches ranging from 75 m (82 yds) to 400 m (437 yds) long, Hawksbill Beach resort's Caribbean Sea frontage includes rocky points and extends 1,200 m (1,312 yds) along the turquoise water. Although all Antiguan beaches are public, because there is no public land access the beaches are used only by resort guests. A distinctively shaped offshore rock gives the entire area its name of Hawksbill Bay.
The longest beach is secluded behind a gate and away from buildings at the south end of the property and is clothing-optional. The shortest beach lies at the head of little horseshoe-shaped Honeymoon Cove and is used primarily by adults. The central beach is the most populated and includes a water-sports center supplying kayaks, windsurfers, small sailboats, pedal boats, and snorkeling gear. Resort staff arrange water skiing and banana-boating on request (surcharges for both) and also books scuba and snorkeling excursions (surcharges).
Sunbathing and water activities center on the beaches. But there is a little beachfront pool measuring approximately 9.25 x 7.5 m (30 x 25 ft) and flanked by a small sundeck.
Because the resort emphasizes rest and relaxation, group activities are few. Those offered include lawn volleyball, beach cricket, kayak and sailboat races, and twice-weekly guided tours of the resort's gardens. The tennis court is unlighted.
The recreational activities listed below are available either on site or near the resort; fees may apply.

“Hope to return one day”
Excellent hotel for both accommodation and service. Good value for money. Taxi ride to go any where or car hire but all available at hotel.
“A level of relaxation that we never knew could be achieved!”
The room was cool with the tile floors; clean with white cotton comforter and sheets; no phone, forced air, clock, radio or tv. On arrival was champagne and a fruit basket and daily flowers on our bed. We were not going for food so we were pleased with the selection and quality. They had ala carte for extra but we never needed to use it. We drank the water with no problems. The staff was service oriented and accomodating to our needs. Beaches are AWESOME. We used all 4 beaches which gave privacy and beauty of the land and sunsets. We snorkled and sailed. We dined at romantic table settings in a variety of locations and shared drinks before/after meals when we wanted with others. The atomosphere is as friendly as you want it and as private as you want. We suggest a beachfront room however I did not hear a single complaint no matter what room a couple had. A beach is right there no matter where your room is. I thought I would get claustophobic at one hotel on one island however I was wrong. The hotel is spaced out just right for relaxation and leisure. The entertainment at night was beautiful including a steel band one night. The grounds were very well maintained and natural to the landscape. Oh about the rooms...the louvers on the windows allowed for privacy and the wonderful breeze to keep cool. Expect a tasteful and simple room but nothing beat the breeze, the sound of the waves and the rustling of the palm trees.
“Truly reinvigurationg and peaceful”
The staff was welcoming and accomadating, and we fell in love with them all by the end of our stay. The food was delicious, the drinks were pretty good, the atmosphere clean and relaxing, the view invigurating. We were amused by the friendly little birds.
“Our stay went much too quickly....”
Hawksbill resort is spread out over three fabulous beaches ( which never seem crowded). The main restaurant has a great atmosphere, wonderful views and competant and very friendly service & the food is good with some interesting island specialities. Entertainment very enjoyable every night , whether Steel drums, Island Scratch band or Local Groups the guests love to dance under the stars. About half the guests are regulars returning each year, we can see why. We hope to be one of them next year! It is good value for money.
“Peace, Serenity and Plenty of Beach”
Just came back from Hawksbill. What a wonderful vacation. Staff were courteous, rooms and premises were clean. 4 beaches. Plenty of activities and opportunities to just relax. Weather was pleasant. Recommend getting a room with A/C during August as it gets pretty humid. Food was great, lots of variety. Great for families too, mid-week a Kids Club was set up to accomodate a number of vacationers who arrived with children.
“Beautiful laid back resort”
Just got back from a honeymoon at the Hawksbill, and must say we had a wonderful time. Everything was easy and set up for relaxation. Room was on the beach and a nice breeze kept us cool all night (even with no AC). Staff were friendly and helpful all around. All the beaches were beautiful, and perfect for sunning, swimming, and/or snorkling.
“Lovely relaxing hotel and location”
Good food and they will cook special meals for vegetarians not on the menu, but you have to ask. Good facilities. Perfect for a relaxing holiday.
“Loved the Hawksbill!”
This hotel is set on four gorgeous beaches but still maintains a sense of seclusion, as it is in a private area of the island. The service is wonderful, and everyone is so friendly. The meals and drinks are great, and there is some kind of entertainment with dinner almost everyday. Hawksbill is the perfect combination of relaxation and excitement, with daily activities like basket-weaving and water sports available everyday. We got married in Antigua and were given tours of several other resorts on the island when considering the location for our ceremony, and without a doubt Hawksbill provides the most beautiful scenery and charming atmosphere. We would definitely return again!
“We've Got To Get Our Friends & Family To Check This Place Out”
This was our first vacation in five years. We went to Antigua because it's the birth place of my boyfriend. I didn't know what to expect but all I can say is that it took my breath away. Not only is this resort beautiful, with it's green mountains in the back, the beautiful array of trees and flowers, the white sandy beaches. Its staff is so friendly and courteous that you feel like never leaving. Going to sleep was magical listening to the crickets chirping and the waves from our room. The island is breath taking.
“Best place to stay in Antigua, one of the best in the Caribbean”
We've travelled to the Caribbean a great deal, but the Hawksbill is probably the best place we've stayed, overall. Granted, this is a slightly older property, meaning it could use a little "freshening" perhaps. But the location is spectacular, the layout offers vistas in every direction no matter where you are, the food was plentiful, delicious, and certainly well above average. The beaches were just amazing. The fact that it's an older property means that they were able to secure some of the best beachfront on the island at the time, which could not have be done in later years, certainly not the undivided amount of it. Also, considering the large size of the property, a resort built today would be OVERRUN as they would have constructed a great deal more units. If you are looking for a Four Seasons, then this is not your place. However, the price tag would literally have been at least 5x more. We have stayed at "top" resorts such as the Four Seasons on the Kona coast, Cap Jaluca, Little Palm Island, The Lake Placid Lodge, etc. I feel that the Hawksbill is comparable due to it's marvelous location, privacy, beauty and the most friendly service I've ever experienced. Most of the people we met there are families that have spent their holidays at the Hawksbill year after year. There is a reason there are so many repeat visitors. It is really a wonderful experience.
