“history revived”

This historic building has recently been upgraded from a nautical pub to a chic inn with personal touches. The old timbers have been revived and polished and furnishings are pale and contemporary. Food is excellent with french theme. We stayed in the simple garet rooms with angled beams. Prices are very fair. An excellent place to stop over and explore Nelsons dockyard and its history and yachts

“ADMIRALS INN ANTIGUA .”

This is a hotel I have known and loved for 40 years. The food used to be very expensive but extremely good, now it is now a medium price and very poor. The table service was also poor and the dining staff very unhelpful and distracted, and incessantly talking loudly amongst themselves which can be heard in the rooms very early in the mornings! The main bartender however and the desk staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is no air conditioning in the main rooms, Only in some, the ones with no view. We had to move out of superior room A in the new wing after the first night as the bed was as hard as a rock. We moved to the main wing and had a lovely breezy room with a view, comfortable bed but no air conditioning. There is new management, which probably explains the difference in the experience, and for the price it is OK, and is a little piece of history set in glorious surroundings,so if it is not 5 star luxury you are looking for and more a historical experience you will not be disappointed.
