“great hotel blink and you will miss it”

The hotel has just been renovated and in somethings it shows. The rooms are basic there is no fridge safe or mini bar but it is a 3 start hotel. Breakfast is on the third floor of hotel and you have a view of the cathederal. Breakfast is continental(toast cerial juices coffee) The location is fantastic although you have to walk down a laneway to enter the hotel. As you walk out door turn right walk up laneway and you are next to cathederal and main square. The cathederal is well worth a visit. Tip There is no 24 hour reception at the hotel if already booked in you will have to use key pad to enter code which is on you room card as soon as you do this push the door. You then place room key into slot next to door this opens sliding door.. If arriving late press button on key pad this will get you the night person. Overall our stay at the hotel was very good and would not hesitate to recommend the hotel to anyone who wishes to stay in Mechelen. There are also 3 chocolate shops near the hotel. Would also recommend a cafe called the Carlton which is just up the road from hotel. Also try the local beer Carlous very nice

“Small, clean, functional... very good service”

My room was small with barely enough space to "swing a cat"... Double bed, tiny night tables, a chair and something against the wall (a ledge) to place my wallet and a glass of water below the hanging LCD TV... no desk to do late night work. Internet access is via Ethernet cable via the IP phone handset on one of the tiny night stands, which means working has to be done sitting on the bed (to be near an AC socket too). Although the room was small, it was clean, modern and comfortable. Bathroom was nice size, clean, modern and comfortable. The customer service is very good. I had to stay an additional day, and they were able to accommodate my "same day" laundry needs as an exception... bringing it to my room in the morning before I checked out to wear that day. This may be a normal service in larger hotels in bigger cities, but in Mechelen... it's the exception, not the rule. It was nice of them to accommodate me.
