“Nearby Central station; nothing fancy”

Astoria was a fair hotel for the price. We slept well and were comfortable. Room basic and tidy though not "deep-clean" and certainly not newly furnished. Breakfast buffet basic but good. Had special Kosher section. Staff pleasant and professional. Neighborhood rather seedy. Location less than a 10-minute walk from Central Station, and down the block from a pretty, pleasant park.

Area recommendations
We really enjoyed the two main Cathedrals and the Roxohuis for sightseeing and art-gazing. Delicious foods and beers everywhere! Also liked the pedestrian tunnel with the old escalators which runs beneath the river.
Getting there
Astoria is an easy walk from Central Station, if you are traveling light. Perhaps 7-10 minutes, tops.
