Balancing out reviews - disappointedPosted Sep 13, 2014
The other reviews are a little positive, so I had a fair expectation. However, the hotel is maybe shabby. My room was not cleaned every day (which I have not experienced before). The local area has a few restaurants, but is quite dull - and the walk into Central Antwerp is not 10 or 15 minutes - at my slower pace, it was taking 30 minutes at least. Checking in was not easy and the building is cramped. If you like old style service and similar comfort, it may be for you, if you can get a good discount.

Dated hotel but in a good locationPosted May 18, 2014
We asked a guy in Tourist Information for directions to the hotel whilst visiting the Grote Markt and he raved about the area. He told us it was very bohemian with great bars and restaurants. I have to say it was in a much nicer area than central Antwerp. We stopped for a couple of glasses of wine in Vinicity which was a wine store/bar and highly recommend checking that out. There was also lots of restaurants to choose from and you can tell that a lot of the locals and expats go our here. Not really bohemian but really nice! The hotel was in a steep house (no lifts) and was quite charming. Our room took me back to the 80's but it was clean, functional and I had a good nights sleep. The breakfast was €5 each and it was worth it. Buffet style, plenty to eat and the hostess was friendly. I would recommend this hotel as its clean, cheap and in a good location. Near the trams too if you do want to back into town. A taxi would only take 10mins so its not very far from the centre.

Excellent valuePosted Nov 19, 2013
Pros: Price, location.
Clean twin room. Spacious. Big bathroom. Breakfast was good value but nothing too exciting. There is a free car park nearby. Or you can just park on the street.

Friendly reception. Close to main station and the new Palace of Justice, designed by Richard Rogers.

Comfortable budget hotelPosted Oct 17, 2011
This hotel is a comfortable budget hotel with a family atmosphere in an older building. It is located in south Antwerp at the terminus of three tram lines, giving excellent access to the train stations and old city. It is within walking distance of the old city although you may decide to take the tram back. The area around the hotel feels safe and includes a wide choice of restaurants within a few blocks. There is no elevator in the hotel so be prepared to carry your bags up stairs. We had a room one level up facing the rear. It was quiet and comfortable.
