Hotel Ibis Antwerp

Posted Mar 31, 2015
Pros: Very central.
Cons: The water pressure in the shower!
Location: Right next to all the main shops. On a large square which holds a massive flea market and the theatre and many restaurants were five minutes away.
The hotel was very central and easy to find from the motorway. There is secure parking opposite which was relatively cheap for 24hrs. (Unlike Amsterdam!!). The staff were very helpful, offered us maps and the use of an adaptor. We didn't have breakfast. The room was clean and the beds comfortable. There were no tea or coffee making facilities. The shower was rather weak and the bathroom was dated but we didn't mind we only wanted a place to sleep.

Convenient hotel. Close to centre.

Posted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: Comfortable bed
Cons: Bigger shower room
Location: Very near market no Rembrant House
Clean room, comfortable bed. Very small bathroom with tiny shower and barely enough room to sit on the loo. But centrally located and OK if you just want somewhere to crash.

Heel centraal gelegen, net hotel.

Posted Mar 3, 2015

Mooie locatie, prettig verblijf

+ locatie + personeel - zeer gehorig.

Very conveniently positioned.

Pros: I would recommend this for it's position and for people who are active and on the go all day and eve - or for business users.
Cons: The staff really need to be welcoming - perhaps they are overworked and underpaid? As I say - they were perfectly polite but no more.
Location: As described in first paragraph. There are some very good restaurants close by, and the old square and more places to eat and drink are just 10 mins.
I have stayed in an Ibis Hotel on a few occasions - Ghent was the most recent before this one. The staff there were friendly, warm and welcoming and the room a little more spacious. This one in Antwerp although very convenient for the shops, good restaurants, and the jazz bar which we frequent, was rather disappointing. The staff were perfectly polite but not friendly and did not make it feel that they would want to share their 'city' with us. Fortnuately we have stayed in Antwerp before so knew it pretty well and my partneris Dutch so could communicate easily. The room was ok for us as we are out most of the day and night but not recommended if you wish to spend any time in it or if it had rained - nowhere to put wet clothes and shoes. The shower was excellent and the bed very comfortable. We only ate breakfast 1 day out of our 3 days stay - it was ok and plenty of it. There is a car park right underneath which is brilliant and on Saturday and Sunday a fabulous food market right outside which sets up magically in the early hours with no noise whatsover.

Very central and convenient, rooms are cramped.

Posted Feb 4, 2015
Pros: The fact that it is so central.
Cons: Make sure groups of young visitors know they have to respect the fact that at 2am people sleep and they should keep quiet when "coming home!"
Location: Hotel is next to the Arenberg theater. Visit the botanical garden, city park, central station, the Rubbens museum, Horta, Bourla schouwburg + restaur.
Central, 5 min on foot from the main shopping street, 10 min from the station, 15 min from the Schelde. The market every Saturday and Sunday starts at the front door! I love to have breakfast at the market, many homemade treats, fresh fruit and food from eastern countries. Antwerp is so versatile, you can't get bored, so much to see and do!
