Antwerp hotel on edge of city

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: The cleanliness of rooms. The food-breakfast and evening meal-were good but expensive.
Cons: The staff were very mixed. Some polite and helpful, others disinterested. Paper cups were provided in rooms-china would be better.
Location: Next to the motorway on the northern outskirts- 4 miles. In Antwerp we visited Reuben's house, the Printing Museum and Cathedral.(cheaper for over 65)
This modern hotel has free parking, an outside pool, free wifi and comfortable rooms. The staff are such a mixed bunch. For example, having hassled my husband to choose from the limited menu -the restaurant was nearly empty-and barked at me-after the main course we had to hand in our napkins. Why? There is nowhere else to eat nearby, so no competition over prices. At breakfast there was a pool of milk on the floor. I asked the lady clearing the tables if she could mop it up and she came and looked. We couldn't get English TV and were told to put our fingers around the back of the television or go and watch in the bar. (It didn't work there either). The waiter on our second night showed how it should be done-polite, friendly and helpful. The room was spotlessly clean. We drove into Antwerp and parked in a multi storey with no problems, but 13 euros for the day. It is a beautiful city, even in the rain, full of cafes and posh shops. Some attractions offer discounts for over 60s. The cathedral is beautiful and has many Reubens. In a side chapel there is a film showing the life of the cathedral over one year. We visited on the Feast of the Assumption, so the flowers were lovely too. The Printing Museum has Mercator's atlas and bible in 5 languages on one page and oldest printing press. Reuben's house is beautiful, but compact. Not many of his paintings, but the small garden and porticos are pretty. It is very dark inside the house with creaky stairs and leather clad walls.

The hotel was absolutely fantastic. Everything was brilliant in terms of room condition, and the security levels were also great. The hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, and the breakfast was incredible with a wide selection if different foods. All in all a brilliant hotel that I would most definitely recommend.

Great for a road trip

We stayed as a family in one room. This part of Antwerp is not for tourists but it has easy road connections and the hotel did exactly what we needed. Everything worked well and the staff were friendly. The whole stay was a pleasure.

Great staff

I had to leave earlier than originally planned and as such my laundry was not going to make it back home with me! Jeffrey the manager suggested he post it on to me and he would just bill my credit card for the costs. I t makes such a difference when hotel staff actually come up with a solution to problems rather than just a shrug of the shoulders and turn away to the next "guest".

awful hotel nowhere near Antwerp

This hotel would be fine if it were in Antwerp, but it's a €35 taxi ride to town. Utterly useless

Dear Thank you for taking the time to share your comments and feedback. As indicated on our sites are we situated 7 km from the historical city center. Our services such as free car park, garden, external swimming pool are a huge advantage when chosing for a hotel with and decentralized location. Shouldn't this message been clear via our site I do apologize. Have a nice day. Best regards Bram Maes

Quite good for the price and rating

Posted Nov 24, 2013 on Hotels.com
It is a fairly nice hotel for the price, the rooms are very clean and bed was really comfy. The restaurant serves good food but the prices are a bit dear. Location wise its not ideal for tourists looking to visit the centre of Antwerp, but for business it was ideal.
