Amazing hotel, amazing value

Posted Jan 18, 2015
Pros: As above, the room was amazing.
Cons: Facilities are minimal, but that is expected when you see what a great value it is.
Location: Appalachiacola is a delightful, sleepy little town in the Gulf coast. It is delightfully unspoiled -- no malls, no box stores. Picture perfect.
The Water St. Hotel is about the most spectacular hotel I have ever stayed in anywhere, at any price. It is situated on the river, easy walk to the downtown. The room was amazing!! It was about the size of many houses. A large living room -- a burt 15 x 25, with glass French doors on the long side, which overlooked the river. A screened porch on the long side. A very well equipped kitchen on the short side. Two large bathrooms, and a large bedroom with a king size four poster bed. All very nicely style, very modern and very clean. Facilities are minimal -- they put the effort into the rooms. Staff were very helpful. And all this for just over $100 a night (off season). I have pain 2-3 times as much for many hotels, but have simply NEVER had such an incredible room --- anywhere!!!

Very large suites

The room was nice, right on the water with a dock. The bed was not comfortable and very bouncy. There were several dishes and utensils that were put away dirty so I rewashed everything before I used them.

Nice but could be better

Posted Jan 5, 2015
Floors looked cleaned but when I wiped up some water I spilled on the kitchen floor the cloth was very dirty. The bath towels are thin and the toilet paper us very thin. The bed sheets were very nice. The location is very nice. I especially liked the screened porch overlooking the water. The soda in the vending machine was 1 1/2 months out of date.

This was our second stay at the Water Street Hotel and it was just as good as the first one.

Beautiful introduction to Apalachicola !

We stayed in a spacious suite, creek and river side, with a marvelous view of the sunrise and the varied boat traffic coming and going. The suite immediately made us feel at home with excellent appointments and view.

We enjoyed our stay. The suite provided for all our needs. I especially enjoyed the large screened balcony over looking the river.

Overall, a very pleasant place for two or three persons. Three of us enjoyed the evening scenes off our screened in balcony.

Outstanding hotel and place

Posted Oct 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
Had a king suite - absolutely outstanding accommodation - so much room! Hotel itself is great, just off the centre of the (very small) town which is walkable in 5 minutes. Super swimming pool which was just outside our door (105). Excellent and unobtrusive cleaning and servicing. Apalachiciola itself is the perfect place to visit if you want to unwind, eat oysters and drink beer. The only drawback was that our (advertised) continental breakfast was not provided on 2 out of the 3 days. It comes in a basket in the fridge and was not replaced after out first day but this was only a small snag in an otherwise perfect stay. We did mention it on our leaving and got apologies and an assurance that if we had asked earlier it would have been provided - so don't hold back with your requests

Nice Hotel on the water

Posted Oct 10, 2014
Pros: Location and the water view.
Cons: Make sure the room is checked after cleaning and before someone checks in.
Location: Shopping, lots of eating places.
We liked the Hotel and where it was located. However there were lots of things that we were not happy with. Our keys would not work upon arrival and they did not work one other day. The TV sound was not working right and it was never resolved. There was no soap in the bathroom upon arrival. The breakfast that was to be in the room was only for one person and there were two of us. Under the sink in the kitchen, there was mildew and mold which we had to have them come and clean because of the smell. We would probably stay there again to see if it was better.
