Nice hostelPosted Jan 6, 2014
Overall very nice hostel; clean, quaint resort like atmosphere with great pool and common area. Only problem was confusion of our reservation for a four bed room for my family and instead placed in 8 bed dorm room which worked out fine as our kids are adult ages. Thank you

Nice location, close to everythingPosted Dec 13, 2013
The facility was clean and one of the best hostels I've been too. Very good for alone travelers. My only issue is that some of the hotel staff was a bit rude and the good a bit pricey. But other than great experience!

beautiful!Posted Mar 20, 2013
This hostel is truly beautiful. The staff was very very friendly and helpful. They made me feel like a guest for sure. They were also the most attractive I had seen so far in the country which was nice :) there was a few small things that I wasn't too happy with, but I'm sure it was just my luck and notnthe hostel! One thing though! I would suggest not eating food from the kitchen. I found it to be expensive and not good at all. Drinks are good though! :)
Helpful staff and great stay!Posted Jan 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was my first stay at a hostel type resort and it was great! The staff was knowledgeable about the area and was able to recommend great restaurants and even discounts available. The tent room was much larger than I had thought and even had lighting and electricity. It was a great deal!

Overall, not badPosted Jan 29, 2013 on Hotels.com
The bed was comfortable, and the tents were very good. It was fun staying in a tent with the luxury of a comfortable bed. It was cool to sit in your tent and hear the rain pour down. The bathrooms were clean, but some bathrooms didn't have hot water, and there were no signs to indicate this. Some of the personnel in the front desk were more knowledgeable and helpful than others. The wireless was spotty - you had to close to reception to get good wireless. Although, the hostel itself was quiet after 11pm, the bar across the street played loud music almost throughout the night. The location is ideal - not too close to center town, but close enough to walk to restaurants or catch a taxi.

Surprisingly nice hostel, don't sleep in the tentsPosted Jan 7, 2013
Main problem is that this is a noisy hostel and the zipper on our tent was broken (also not great for security).

Resort? Super loud all day long.Posted Jul 7, 2012 on Hotels.com
We had reserved a tent for a two night stay. But after seeing the tents so closely packed together on a gravel pad, we decided to stay elsewhere. The music was so blasting that we could hear it at our hotel some distance away....from 9am to 11pm daily. Hotel staff were helpful in giving us tips for trips or restaurants but they didn't really care, they were more interested in packing in as many people as possible. We had to yell to be heard at the reception. Absurdly it was the reception staff who played music so loud.

Tried the "safari tent" optionPosted Jan 8, 2012 on Hotels.com
We booked our Costa Rica trip last-minute for the holidays, when even our travel agent couldn't find a hotel room in Arenal. To be able to do the planned trip at all, out of desperation I booked the only option I found in La Fortuna, the "tent" at Backpackers, prepared to rough it for two nights although I loathe camping. It wasn't too bad! The tents are brand new, with a double bed inside, lamp, and electrical outlets. Plenty of bathrooms and showers nearby; you have to rent or bring a towel though. Safe and nice hotel considering it's just a "hostel"; restaurant/bar, pool, social atmosphere, great front desk staff. Bring earplugs for sure as you can hear a nearby bar, and remember it will get a bit colder during the night. A good way to save some money on an otherwise surprisingly expensive Costa Rica trip.

top end hostelPosted Nov 30, 2011 on Hotels.com
We stayed in a private double in November. It was pretty quiet when we were there so very laid-back. The guys on reception seemed to be only interested in selling us tours - but were fairly helpful. The pool area was really nice to relax around, but it rained a lot when we were there so didn't really get to use it to it's full potential! Food was pretty good - especially the breakfast burrito. Good option if you want the atmosphere of a hostel, but quality of a hotel. Definitely recommend the tour to Rio Celeste - it was amazing!
