It was OK

Posted Feb 18, 2014
Pros: The separate buildings for rooms and the gardens
Cons: The mattresses probably could be replaced and the hot water needs improvement
Location: We hiked down to the waterfall and it was beautiful. The volcano was unfortunately completely covered in cloud while we were there
The bed was uncomfortable and our room had no hot water at all the night we checked in and only about 45 seconds worth the next morning as we were trying to clean up. The exterior of the property and the staff were fantastic!!!

Decent hotel at a great price

This hotel is a bit small- our private transport driver did not know it and had to ask a few locals where it is. Once we found it, however, it was a nice place to stay. The rooms are bungalow style, with 2 rooms per bungalow. There is a pool, and breakfast is offered each morning. Breakfast consisted of gallo pinto, eggs, and fruit. Best gallo pinto I had in Costa Rica. Hotel was a 10 minute walk from La Forntuna. Lady at front desk was very helpful, helping book tours.

Pros: Not bad in a pinch
Cons: Noise, grounds needed a lot of cleanup
Location: Walking distance to a pub and to town
Budget accomodations close to town. Nice volcano view from the pool. Busy road right behind the cabinas all night long.

Room too small. Hot water would not work. Wake up call never happened. Worse hotel I've been in in the last 40 years!

Location: The town of La Fortuna is shabby, this hotel is a little out of town, which is good.
For the price, this was an excellent choice -- very clean and comfortable -- not a luxury hotel, but doesn't purport to be. Nice breakfast, nice pool, view of the Volcano and security -- important here. The problem at check-in was not the hotel's fault.
