Property is beautiful. Hotel has really nice hot springs you can enjoy as well as a great view of the volcano. The service of the staff doesn't live up to the cost of this hotel. Had much better service at less expensive hotels. Rooms are really nice, but the shower needs a make over as there are hard to clean places where mould is growing. Not something that should be happening at a hotel this price. It's close to a $20 cab ride into La Fortuna (if you want to eat dinner outside the hotel), but the hotel does offer a free shuttle going in to La Fortuna at 2pm and returning back at 5:30pm. Food at the hotels restaurants is pretty good so we didn't mind eating there most of the time. Our 2.5 year old loved the kiddie pool.

Oasis of BeautyPosted Nov 30, 2013
We arrived at the hotel in the evening so we could only see the pretty flowers on either side of the driveway. Pulling up close to the reception area, we were greeted by staff at our car. Checking in was easy & everyone in our party was given a drink of their choice. Two of our kids had watermelon smoothies, while the other one had a chocolate shake. Upon entering our room, we were pleased. We could not see any view in the dark but when we woke up the next morning....the view of Arenal Volcano took our breath away!!! We had an awesome view of the mountain & the hotel grounds!! While there, I enjoyed the spa, restaurant & the natural hot springs. I can't wait to go back!

Incredible viewsPosted Aug 21, 2013
Pros: The service and the food were over the top.
Cons: It was dark when walking to dinner or the pool area at night. A bit better lighting would help.
Location: La Fortuna is just a few miles down the road. It was very small but did have a few shops and restaurants. Outdoor sports were everywhere.
The hotel was amazing. We stayed in a family suite with a picture perfect view of the volcano. Restaurants were excellent and service was superb. We will be back.

Great facility and view of volcano!Posted Aug 20, 2013
What a great experience for our family of four! The suite with had a fantastic view of the volcano, was spacious, and included a spa which our sons thoroughly enjoyed. The breakfast buffet and dinner were very good. The hot springs were enjoyable, and the grounds were well cared for and beautiful. We easily scheduled tours through the hotel. The facial at the spa was a relaxing and quality experience. The gift shop had reasonable prices for quality products. I would highly recommend this resort; we could not have asked for a better experience.

Hotel with a View of ArenalPosted Aug 18, 2013
Pros: suites are spacious; loved the rainforest showers; included Costa Rican breakfast; the views of Arenal
Location: Kioro provides a free shuttle to LaFortuna--make sure you make this 10 minute ride. The town is charming. Eat at Don Rufinos, it's great!
My family enjoyed Arenal Kioro for three nights. When we arrived, I had a negative first impression, despite the greeting with a free fruity drink--the furniture was badly worn in the reception area. The furniture in the suites, however, did not disappoint; suites are spacious with floor to ceiling glass that allow awesome views of Arenal. Rooms were very clean and comfortable, beds a little too firm. The thermal springs were relaxing; a series of pools are arranged down a slope; the top pool is the warmest and cleanest, the bottom cooler and slimy on the (concrete?) bottom. We enjoyed the recreation provided, Ping-Pong (only 4 paddles provided for 2 tables), Billiards, and swimming pool. We dined at both restaurants on the property and rated the food as very good. The included breakfast was excellent. We booked two tours through the resort. The Arenal Volcano Hike is worthwhile; our guide was very informative; once you hike to the lava fields, there are views of Lake Arenal, as well Arenal. We also booked the Sky tram & Trek tour but ended up cancelling---we wished to only ride the Sky Tram and didn't want to spend our time waiting on the others who rode the Tram to do the zip lines. I explained to the Kioro staff that I was misinformed and they refunded half the price of the tour. We also enjoyed/recommend kayaking on Lake Arenal. Overall, Arenal was a good experience for my family and the staff was attentive to our needs.

Amazing Views & PropertyPosted Aug 14, 2013
Pros: Everything, including the breakfast.
Cons: Not much - if they controlled the weather - more views of the active volcano.
Location: Went on a wonderful rafting trip.
Family vacation was amazing. Loved waking up to the volcano out my window surrounded by beautiful flora and views. Would definitely recommend this place to those that don;t want to stay at Tabacon. The pool and springs and spa were perfect.
