“Very comfortable stay!”

I love this lodge! Me and my friend stayed in Monteverde for 2 days and we stayed here for a night, which was a great choice. The lodge is a little off from the town center and it's located right next to a forest. Driving to Moneteverde is about 15 minutes from the hotel so it was not bad at all. I really like the individual balcony attached to the upstair rooms so take advantage and ask for a room upstairs if available. The staffs here were very friendly. The owner's wife gave me a map of the interesting things to place and places to go. She even offered to make phone calls for anything that I like to reserve. Since I can't speak spanish that helped a lot. I recommend this place!

“Truly best stay in the MV Area,for outdoorsy folks”

For those who like outdoorsy lifestyle: This is probably the best place to stay in the MonteVerde area, definitely excellent quality to price ratio. Very nice recently built. We stayed there for 2 nights while traveling in CR by car, on the way from Arenal (about 3 h. by car) to Samara beaches. Very friendly staff (gave us an upgrade to a suite when we checked in), answered all questions and gave a couple of very good recommendations about what to do in the area (what you don't find in the tourist books). Thank you for not having TV in the room - that helped to enjoy our vacation and the beauty of the area. We would very highly recommend this place to our friends and would stay there again ourselves

“Cala Lodge excels at the personal touch!”

Cala Lodge excelled at providing a personal touch. They new our name when we checked in, without having to look up the reservation. They were extremely helpful with information about the area and activities. Based upon their recommendation we took a trip to San Luis and saw some of the most beautiful scenery I have ever scene. The staff went out of there way to be helpful, they even called Monteverde Reserve to find out about getting a personal tour guide whil we were gone on another tour. I would definitely recommend.

“Great Inexpensive Spot After a Day of Activities”

This a quaint, comfortable, well-kept spot to spend a night following a day of enjoying the park. Stayed one night during the week of Feb 18. Rustic - not going to find a television here, but suite has kitchenette. Beautifully kept, clean and great condition. Gorgeous big windows overlooking the forest. Perfectly located about a three minute drive from the main drag in town and about ten minutes from the reserve. Basically, a nice clean quiet cabin in the woods with a great staff and a solid breakfast. Only regret is that Expedia made us book two rooms for family of five (all to common, should have just put down two children), but totally not necessary if get suite.

“If you can, stay here!”

This hotel was absolutely amazing. Arriving in Monteverde was already a treat in itself, but that the hotel exploits the location is even better. If you can, get room 6. It has an amazing view out onto the mountains, and the personal deck is a great place to chill, morning or night, and just enjoy the rainforest a bit. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone and everyone.

Wonderful, helpful staff and owners. The hotel has beautiful grounds and is close to town. The mattresses were bad, but breakfast was good.
