“Scorpions in our bedroom”
On April, 2011, I had reservations at the hotel. After checking in, we began to unpack. My wife and children (11, 8 and 5) found a large scorpion in our room. It was at least 3 inches long. I killed it, and reported it to the front desk. I was given a can of insect spray. I was told to spray the room MYSELF, that the spray was nontoxic, and it should be fine after dinner. When I returned to the room, another scorpion had come either out of the wall or from under the bed. This all occurred within the first 20 minutes of being there. My wife and 3 children refused to stay there. The only other room room available was the room directly nest door. Since the room shared the same walls that the scorpions had come from, the wall the scorpions were on was the wall between the rooms, this was unacceptable. We informed the clerk that we need to change hotels. He was courteous enough to make another reservation for us.
I was unhappy when he informed me that he was unable to refund my money because we were passed the cancellation time, and that having 2 scorpions in the room is not considered something that makes the room unacceptable.
I was very disappointed in the way the situation was handled and that we were not reimbursed for a room that we never stayed in. In my opinion, no matter where you are, having huge, possibly dangerous scorpions in your hotel room is NEVER acceptable. My daughters and wife are still having nightmares about the situation.
