“Best view”
Hotel is situated on top of a hill with a magnificient view of the forest. The owners are extremely nice and helpful with the area tours. The rooms are the best rooms I've stayed in in CR.
“Excellent place to spend the night”
Friendly staff and great viewing gallery. No need to set up the wake up time since the nice aroma of the breakfast will wake you up.
“Our homebase in Monteverde”
We stayed at El Viandante in February 2011. The hosts are very nice and helpful and will answer all your questions and make arrangements as needed. There are good breakfasts and a wonderful view from the breakfast room. The free internet computer in the lobby was useful for us. The B&B is very clean and pleasant with recently renovated rooms and bathrooms, and we would definitely stay there again.
“Wonderful staff and value for money”
El Vidante was very well maintained and clean. The rooms are very cute, comfortable and clean. It feels very homey and the staff treats you like family. We arrived really late on our checkin date and they stayed up to receive us. On our check out date, we left early and they prepared breakfast one hour earlier than the scheduled time. All the tours they recommended were very nice and they did not try to force any tours on us.
“Home away from Home.. I would definately go back”
We walked in and a very energetic Renzo greeted us. We were early but our room was all in order. He even helped us to get a tour booked that same afternoon. He had maps printed of the town and how to get around and showed us all his favorite places. Then he had many reasonably priced tours that he helped arrange. (they were the most reasonably priced tours that we found on our trip). It seemed like there was a lot of thought put into the design elements in the room. It had a very European feel to it and everything smelled wonderful like fresh Cedar. In the morning Grace made fresh eggs with ham, toast and fresh fruit. More than adequate breakfast and better than most. It was a charming B&B. That was very adequate and comfy. WiFi worked great and no additional charge!!
“Great adventure destination in MonteVerde!”
The family who operates the inn was very friendly & helpful, local tours were great, as recommended. Inn was recently remodeled with beautiful local woods & wood products; nice breakfast with eggs & toast & fresh fruits & their wonderful Costa Rican coffee. Steep dirt road access was a challenge, and inn is not central to downtown, but local transportation was affordable & very accommodating. Thank you, Grace and family!
“El Viandante: El Magnifico!”
Would recommend this place to anyone and would stay there again. great view, quiet safe nerghborhood, great owner.
“Central Location”
The El Viandante Hotel (Bed & Breakfast) is a very friendly place to stay that is also very convenient to Santa Elena. The owners are friendly and helpful. The internet access is centrally located in the main lobby. We enjoyed the American breakfast prepared fresh each day. Our favorite was the scrambled eggs and ham, fresh fruit, toast, coffee and orange juice. The rooms are large and comfortable. The bathrooms are also large and come with a built in hairdryer. Having a television in the room was also a nice touch. We walked to many places, or took local taxis that were very inexpensive. We especially enjoyed the Spanish restaurant that is owned and operated by a husband and wife. The food was excellent and reasonably priced.
“Charming Hotel; Perfect and Hospitable Hosts”
This hotel is a winner. It is run by a charming couple who do their very best to provide a delightful, warm hotel experience. Check-in was easy. Rooms are comfortable and unique- not the same cookie-cutter hotel we are all familiar with. Wood-panelled walls and floors; unique comforter quilts; pleasant design. The breakfasts that come with the room were delicious and varied. The breakfast room was very nice with a view of the mountains. Nice shower, hair dryer, TV, wireless internet were all included. The hosts saved us a lot of money with their recommendations for activities. We waited to book our activities and are so glad we did! Their recommendations for canopy tours, horseback riding, cloud mountain hikes, and boat ride from Monteverde to Arenal were very helpful and cheaper than we found on-line. The activites were also just what we were looking for. For example, we wanted to really ride horses, not just walk them. They knew whom to call and how to book it so we had the experience we were looking for. They were careful with the canopy tour to tell us exactly what we were getting into. It was perfect. (Extremo had a combination canopy tour and horseback riding- they were perfect and a bit cheaper by booking them at the same time.) The service was 100% in every respect. Nice restaurant just across the street. We couldn't have asked for more and would certainly want to stay here again in the future.
“most helpful hosts”
the couple that own the b & b went out of their way to help us with our plans, and accomodate us at the hotel.
