“An amazing stay in one of the most beautiful hotels”

My wife and I just returned from a week long trip to Costa Rica. We stayed in several fabulous hotels but this was one of our favorites of all time. The hotel is 3 miles up a secluded road on the northwest of Arenal and has the best view of the lake/volcano around. The hotel sits on 2000 acres of private land so there are no distractions from the beautiful grounds. The staff was incredibly friendly throughout our stay and very knowledgeable about the area. Upon our welcome we were served tropical drinks and signed up for free horseback riding and a morning hike, both led by the friendly and knowledgable guide; both experiences were some of our favorite of the trip. The junior suites all have great views of the volcano and nice decks to relax. The infinity pool also has an excellent view and is located just below the restaurant. We ate at the restaurant all 3 days and the food was top notch. Breakfast is included but was on a completely different level than typical US continental breakfasts - order off the menu or the expansive buffet - either will be a great meal. A local macaw is also frequently seen on the property. All in all it was a very peaceful and romantic stay and we look forward to coming back someday.

“Amazing Lodge”

We booked at Arenal for the spectacular view and great surroundings. That's exactly what we got. Arenal Lodge has amazing grounds surrounded by gardens and great trails. The view was amazing, we ddin't get to see any lava flow because there wasn't any, but it was still wonderful. The trip up to the top of the mountain was very interesting but very worth what's at the top. The food was good. Service was amazing, and everyone was so nice. The tour desk person was very helpful, we were only in Arenal for 2 days and she helped book us on an amazing tour.

this place was an amazing surprise. the road up the hill is a little long, but its worth it. once you reach the top, you have rolling hills and jungle behind you, and a volcano and lake view in front of you. they have forest walks and horseback riding as courtesy services, and the breakfasts are excellent. the hotel raises its own game, so the food is very fresh. the people there are very kind and go out of their way to make you comfortable. the hotel itself is very beautiful, a gem hidden away in nature, yet a short drive from the city. i highly recommend this hotel. if you dont want to be in a zoo full of tourists and theme park-style treatment, this is the place for you. its like having your own ranch and your own panoramic view. peace and quiet.

If you have a car and do not mind driving fifteen minutes from Fortuna, this is well worth a stay. We stayed here for three nights and fully enjoyed all the hotel has to offer. We stayed in the chalets which had an amazing view of the volcano and lake. Our girls enjoyed the pool, hottubs, and the wildlife (macaw, coati, butterflies and the list goes on). We went on the free guided walk through the grounds and saw so many insects, birds and animals. They provide free access to computers which was helpful. Breakfast was wonderful with many options. We booked a trip to Baldi Hotsprings and Eco-Glide through their tour operator, and she was excellent and very helpful. Great start to our two week holiday around Costa Rica!

“Lovely Quiet Spot”

Great hotel - fabulous view, beautiful gardens - good restaurant. The driveway is 3km switchback cobblestone road which is something of a challenge and hotel is about 12 km putside La Fortuna, but right near the Lake and a lovely quiet spot.

the hotel needs a good coat of paint and some general maintenance, but if it got that, they could charge a whole lot more. As it is, this is a very good hotel in an exceptional setting with exceptional people and service. The view from our family chalet is something that I will long remember. A good free breakfast, free horseback riding, and helpful people. The restuarant itself isn't very good for dinner, but if you avoid that mistake, you will have a memorable stay
