2 days at our favorite place on the planetPosted Dec 18, 2013
Pros: view of the volcano and being outside of the town of LaFortuna
Cons: more choices for the included breakfast
Location: Absolutely spend the day at Tabacon Hot Springs and go for the day pass including lunch and dinner, it's well worth it.
We have been to this little hotel many times and it has the best view of the Arenal Volcano that I've found for the price.I have always stayed in a junior suite which is very resonable but moved this time to a cottage with a superior size and even better view of Arenal. Unfortuately it rained a lot of the time but we still loved the birds and animals and over all comfort.

Nice, off the beaten path, lodgePosted Dec 6, 2013
Pros: The friendly staff was helpful in planning our daily events. Their perspective on nature around the area (they have a macaw and coati hang out).
Cons: The road up to the hotel. More comfortable beds.
Location: Many things to do. Hiking, rafting, hot springs, zip line, hanging bridges, and different tours.
The accommodations of the hotel was nice and the staff was extremely friendly. It is a long, rough road up to the lodge but you are able to take in the scenic view and catch glimpses of nature that you would not find on the main road. The staff will make you feel welcome and service your needs. Take advantage of the trails around the lodge!

Nice enough placePosted Dec 6, 2013
Pros: Should have been a glorious position had we been able to see the view. Thats not the hotels fault though.
Cons: Rooms were a bit tired
Location: Arenal hanging bridges nearby. Well worth a visit.
Unfortunately the weather was appalling so we had to take the views on trust. We were not impressed with the restaurant although others had a reasonable meal?

Relaxing jungle escapePosted Aug 25, 2013
Pros: The nature walk with Miguel, the friendly hotel staff, the food, the relaxing environment.
Cons: Our room could have used an update
Location: Location is about 25 minute drive outside La Fortuna, but is close to the Arenal Hanging suspension bridges and not too far from the volcano hikes
We stayed for 4 nights at this hotel and really enjoyed our time. The hotel is a bit of a drive (about 25 minutes) from La Fortuna, but is in a beautiful area that makes it easy to simply just relax. The pool and Jacuzzi are really nice, as is the restaurant and food. We stayed in a superior room, and although large and spacious, was a bit dated. From our room we had a perfect view of the volcano and rainforest, which was great to wake up to. We went on the free nature walk the hotel provided and it was awesome. We saw monkeys, a parrot, tarantula nest... we also used the hotel to book our tours, and the lady was so helpful. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel!

Pleasant hotel stay at the Hotel Arenal LodgePosted Aug 22, 2013
Pros: Rustic charm, great views, sense of isolation
Cons: It needs some updating, but for the prices charged that may be difficult to accomplish. It also might spoil the charm of the place.
Location: Near the hanging bridges, volcano, great zip lining, all types of hiking. Town (La Fortuna) is an easy drive and has some shopping, etc.
I had some concerns based on other reviews read. Do not go to this hotel expecting a five star experience. It is a bit dated and rustic. Some will hate that, but we thought it was charming. The drive up from the highway is an experience. Once is enough, after that I could have done without it. The staff was very pleasant, especially the restaurant wait staff. Enrique and Miguel were absolutely great and made us feel comfortable and spoiled at the same time. View of the volcano from our balcony and the pool/terrace area were outstanding. The property is large and well segregated from any other lodges/hotels/resorts. You don't feel like you are in the middle of a resort area. You are in the rain forest. You will enjoy this hotel if you go in expecting a place whose best days may have gone by, because it is now a little rough around the edges. It cannot be beat for the price.

Beautiful Secluded LodgePosted Aug 16, 2013
Pros: The view was spectacular and the entire staff was very helpful.
Cons: The dinner menu at the restaurant could offer more complete meals that include salad or vegetables
Location: Arenal National Park, Cerro Chato, zip lining, Arenal Hanging Bridges.
This lodge is set about 20 miles outside of La Fortuna just north of arenal national park and rests 2 km up on the top of a hill. From there it offers a stunning view of the volcano from either the pool/jacuzzi areas or the restaurant. Our room kindly upgraded from a standard to a junior suite and gave us a balcony that looked directly over the surrounding rainforest to the volcano. They offer free nature walks (~2.5 hours) with a great guide in the mornings and have a restaurant with the most polite waiting staff. The food was delicious at both breakfast and dinner and the prices were fair.

the view!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Posted Aug 15, 2013
Cons: the food service was average, the wait staff was great, but the food was just good.
Location: anything is near by, we never left the lodge though, I had trouble leaving my balcony
This lodge is amazing, it blew all of my expectations! the view from our balcony was amazing, (we had the junior sweets and I think all rooms have a great view) the trails on the property were awesome too. treated very well. not hard to find, a ways off the beaten path, but definitely hard to leave

Terrible roomPosted Aug 9, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had room No#1 and it was terrible. The room and bathroom ceiling was moldy and outdated. Costa Rica is humid, but this room smelled bad and did not look clean. The restaurant is very average. The only good thing about this hotel is that it is over looking the volcano and the pool is nice. Personally I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Tranquil & Beautiful!Posted Aug 9, 2013
Arrive before dark because the road up to the reception is pretty dark and curvy - 2 kilometers. Make sure you have all of your supplies because they don't have a gift/necessities shop. The restaurant was average but the service great! The property was beautiful and we enjoyed the Jacuzzi! Rooms were rustic but comfortable! Will definatly be back.
