The hotel is very clean but dated (maybe 70's) and in need of repair in some areas. The view is great when the volcano is visible. This was my third visit to Arenal over the years and the first time I have seen the volcano. It is often shrouded in clouds. The hotel is in a remote location off the main road, about 15 km from the volcano and the town. This was our groups first visit to the hotel and we usually just stay in the area one night on our way to the beach each year. We would choose one of the hotels closer to the volcano next time.

Nice Hotel in Arenal Area

Posted May 7, 2014
Cons: Room comfort
Location: Located closed to Arenal Volcano, hot springs, hanging bridges, Sky trek - Sky tram, horse ride offered at the hotel.
Hotel location is about 10 minutes from the main road, Place is quiet, Staff is friendly but you need to be patient if need something specially at the restaurant, we stayed at the chalets which has a great view to Arenal Volcano. Pool is cool, we were unable to use it due to water temperature, Jacuzzi is OK but need to order 25 minutes before use for optimal water temperature. Available tours at the hotel, very informative. If you like Zip Lines, I recommend Sky trek, not offered at the Hotel and Baldi Hot springs. Room comfort should be improved, hard and uncomfortable mattress. Great stay for people who likes Pure Nature.

Fantastic setting

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Cons: The food
Location: Plenty of excursions, walks, horse riding...
Nice hotel in a fantastic setting. Spectacular views, nice trails. Ask for the junior suites on the second floor. The rooms and the lobby /bar-restaurant are very pleasant. A car is a must as the hotel is far from La Fortuna and once you are in, you do not always feel like going out again. The only down side is the food at the restaurant. Buffet breakfasts are very good but the food for lunches and dinners is very bland, unimaginative and fairly expensive for what it is. The staff is attentive and overall we had a great time.

Our March 2014 stay

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Surroundings, pool, restaurant, staff.
Location: On site walking tour of jungle; virtually next to the Hanging Bridges site. Arenal Lake Brewery-micro brews and food.
Great view of the volcano. Nice breakfast buffet, plenty of variety. Lodge property includes its own jungle walking tour. Shuttles to local sites. A good value at this location.

Very tired hotel

Posted Mar 15, 2014
Pros: The food was good and the view was amazing.
Location: The location was very isolated from a lot of local activities
The room was very tired and in need of repairs. The furniture was very old, the windows were broken, the toilet was broken and the little kitchen doors were falling off. The two jacuzzi were cold and there for unusable because the area is not warm. They also had a dart board but not working darts. At lot off small things add up to not making this this hotel worth the price.

Beautiful view and gorgeous grounds

Posted Mar 14, 2014
Pros: The staff - the grounds
Cons: The rooms were a bit dated but also large and a once patio to sit and look at the volcan. The road up to the lodge is a bit rough
Location: Hot springs and hiking
We only stayed here 1 night but had I known how nice it was I would have stayed more. Lots to do right on the property. Great guided tour and a lovely infinity pool. The day we arrived there was a full rainbow over the volcano and it was spectacular. The staff were helpful and the food was good - a huge buffet breakfast - just what you need before a day of adventure.

Awesome view!

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: The view and the proximity to the wildlife and rainforest.
Cons: Nothing really.
Location: It was a little far from town and from the excursions - but we had transportation and took advantage of seeing what was around us.
We were in a chalet that had a wonderful view of the grounds, lake and volcano. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Saw lots of wildlife right there at the hotel. The food was wonderful and we were very pleased with the whole experience.

Quiet location. Nicely decorated, friendly staff

Posted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: Private, quiet location on a hill with a good view of the volcano, nicely decorated.
Cons: Not much. The room had a couch that looked like it could use a cleaning, but overall satisfied. no WiFi in rooms, only in the lobby.
We liked the hotel. it is a good distance off the main road once you go through the security gate, up a steep and windy private drive, so don't give up, keep driving and you'll get there. Nice view of the volcano from the room (junior suite). Nicely decorated and friendly staff. Breakfast was included and was good, and you can watch a variety of tropical birds, including macaws from the restaurant window.
