Three night stayPosted Mar 27, 2013 on Hotels.com
Very nice staff who were exceptionally helpful. Not the most convenient place to stay unless you have a car. The bus however does stop outside hotel. A relaxing place to stay away from town but close to an eco centre which was well worth visiting.Nice geckos and toad as house guests.

Basic accomodations.Posted Mar 7, 2013 on Hotels.com
We only stayed one night just to check out La Fortuna. The hotel is very basic. No shampoo or wash clothes available. Rooms not very secure. Free breakfast is small.

Nice place, difficult staffPosted Mar 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
We enjoyed our stay here but had a 'disagreement' with the concierge on the way out. From the airport, our cab fair was $30 USD. As we were checking out we asked the receptionist to phone us a cab to take us back to the airport. The driver arrived and asked for $50 to take us there. I told him that was way too much at which point he brought me to the receptionist. It would appear they were 'in on it' together because after that the driver did no more talking and made me negotiate with the receptionist who would not budge on $50 and insisted there is no way we found a cab for $30. You can imagine how stressful it is to be in a foreign place with only mediocre Spanish skills and to be put in a corner like this. In the end I did not feel confident I could find my own cab and make it to the airport on time so I paid the $50 but this really soured our experience. Now, the rest of the staff was absolutely fabulous. The maids played with my son and we had a great experience at breakfast.

Fun in La FortunaPosted Mar 1, 2013
Pros: Late night drinks on porch, sound of howler monkeys.
Location: Short drive to all attractions around La Fortuna.
We were 4 people traveling through Costa Rica. 9 hotels in 14 days. Spent 2 nights here and loved it. We had 2 rooms facing the garden. They were clean, spacious with good air conditioning. Fridge available in kitchen. Cosy porch for evening drinks which we provided. Nice breakfast that was included with good bird watching opportunities. The only noise were howler monkey and how awesome is that. Short drive to La Fortuna, Arenal volcano park, jungle bridges, waterfalls and thermal baths.

no frills but gets the job donePosted Jan 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
the hotel staff and service are VERY friendly and helpful. breakfast in the morning is great. the hotel is a short cab ride away from town (too far to walk). the room is basic, comfortable, beds and bathroom were clean. no bugs, but there was a little gecko in the bathroom! very reasonable price. no pool. you'll spend all your time in town/sightseeing anyway, right? kind of nice to get away from the noise of the town at night, but others might want a place right in the center. other than that, would very much recommend.

Good valuePosted Jul 13, 2012 on Hotels.com
Service was excellent and the grounds were scenic. If you plan on looking around La Fortuna I would recommend a car as the hotel is not walking distance to the town. The rooms were a little noisy due to the location on the highway. However, the rooms were big and bed clean.
