Hotel with resort capabilities...

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: Very big potencial off this hotel up to good resort.
Cons: Have to utilize their potencial.
Location: Close to everything
Hotel with resort capabilities... but use that potencial very little. Having hot sping on site only two out off four were filled with water. Bar did't work. Restourant provided free breakfast. Did't work during dinner time. If you hungry only option to order delivery from another place.

Nice resort close to the volcano arenal

Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: Personalized service Minimal guests Great pool and thermal spring Fine dining in the evening Very helpful assistance from Dayana.
Cons: Our room was near the entrance, so you could hear the traffic coming and going all day and night Should ask for a room away from the entrance.
Location: Many activities nearby, i.e. horseback riding, canopy tours, and the observatory lodge(the best place to see the volcano, if you don't take a tour)
We had a great experience from the time we arrived at the front desk, to dining in the restaurant and having a gracious host Dayana. She made sure that every detail of our stay was perfecto. She was most helpful in interpreting with our friend Francisco. This hotel has beautiful flora, very nice cabins and a thermal hot spring! We had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend it!

Pros: Breakfast
Cons: Bed covers
Location: Location is good. Close to volcano observatory
Hotel has nice landscaping. The room had musty odor. No soap dish in the bathroom. No chairs were provided in the room to be able to sit down. No fan. Ants in the room. Sheets not crisp. Bed cover looked dirty. Breakfast was good. It has a good hot springs area.

Great stay!

Great hotel! Super friendly reception area. Only things to know - you can't put toilet paper into the toilet due to their septic system. It has to go in a trash can. Also, get a rental car, there is nothing within easy walking distance and cabs are super expensive. They also have a nice little hot springs on site.

rustic hotel 10 minutes from downtown

Posted Dec 7, 2014
we loved our 5 day stay at Kokoro. The staff was warm and friendly. Note that this hotel is rustic - wifi only in reception, no cable, and far from downtown ($8 hotel cab). However, we liked this and found this relaxing, but others may want to be downtown and want more modern amenities. The rooms were clean, private, and secluded. Since it was not peak season, we felt like we had the hotel to ourselves. Thank you Kokoro for a relaxing visit!

Affordable stay, accomodating

Posted Aug 4, 2014 on Hotels.com
Kokoro service was a reasonable place to stay, but due to the constant rainy season and older age of the building, we got hit hard with the smell of mildew. We talked to the staff and they provided us with a dehumidifier and air freshener which definitely helped. I think they would benefit from cleaning up some of the unused areas so that even if it's not in use it doesn't look as abandoned or neglected, i.e. some of the former public cabanas. Highlights included the hot spring area, the dinner, the breakfasts, the room refrigerator and the taste of the coffee that they provided in the lobby. The location was no better or worse than many of the places, as the hotels are quite spread out. Overall the staff really made up for some of the off-putting parts of the stay.

Perfect mountain retreat.

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Pros: The lush surroundings and the very helpful staff who always wanted to make sure we were enjoying ourselves.
Location: Easy to get cab to/from town. Easy to get food delivery in the evenings.
Wanted a quiet stay in the mountains near town. This was more than we hoped for! Staff excellent, breakfast pleasing, easy 10 minute cab ride to town. Would have had excellent views of volcano except for the rain those days. Cabins arranged for privacy/ good views surrounded by beautiful lush landscaping. Rooms simple yet comfortable - AC was fantastic!
