“I am happy to have tried this hotel, even it had no review at Expedia”

At the time I left for Costa Rica, this hotel had not review in Expedia which made me hesitate to book it. Well,I have had the best time in years and a lot has to do with this hotel. There are more small cottages-like rooms than the pictures at their website suggest, but they are reasonably spaced and oriented in such a way that you can sit confortably at the roofed-deck of your cottage and enjoy the beauty of the Arenal Volcano. In the morning you can hear the sounds of the jungle (monkeys and birds), however, the hotel is surrounded by a well manicured gardens. The people at Lomas del Volcan are very nice, always eager to help, fully bilingual (English/Spanish), and well verse on places to go and tours to take. There is open wireless High-Speed Internet access at the Hotel Lobby and a free-of-charge Internet access at a computer at the Hotel's souvenir shop. The hotel is less than a five- minute drive to the city of La Fortuna giving you access to anything else that you may want.

“As Beautiful as in the Pictures!!”

Lomas del Volcan was just as beautiful in person as it was in the pictures on the website! The grounds were beautiful, the pool was picture perfect, and the room was large and comfy. The only thing we weren't prepared for at the hotel was it didn't come with even the common ammenities- like shampoo/conditioner, hair dryer, TV, etc. but there was a grocery store down the street and I got used to just leaving my hair wet. The staff were great, and the free breakfast was also very good, however it was the same thing every morning. We rented a car at the airport and drove (at night) to the hotel, and I don't know what we would have done without it! The roads aren't as bad as all the websites say, they're just super windy, and all the activities are pretty spread out amongst the town so having a car was very convenient. I highly recommend this hotel!

“Amazing views!!!”

I recently spent 6 nights at Lomas del Volcan. I absolutely loved our bungalow. It had amazing views of the Arenal volcano right in our backyard. The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful as well. The breakfast buffet was delicious as well as the dinners. It is about a 10 minute drive into the main town, La Fortuna, but a cab ride from the resort into town costs only about $3 - $4 U.S. dollars. I am definately going back to this resort next summer. I loved it!

“A Garden of Eden”

Near Fortuna. Close enough to treck to town but far enough off the main road to give a feeling of seclusion. Grounds are well maintained and garden like. Fine location for day trips. We stayed 7 nights. Free use of internet a real plus. Catering to tour groups. We enjoyed meeting travelers from all over the world. Charming pathways to individual cottages could use a bit more lighting at night. Overall, we would return whenever possible.

“Very Impressed”

We visited Lomas Del Volcan as the first hotel on our trip to Costa Rica. It was absolutely the best. We had our own "villa" so it afforded some privacy and well as a wonderfully large bathroom area. The morning breakfast was varied and the food was good. We had drinks in the bar one evening and they were both good and they weren't stingy with the rum. The only thing that we didn't care too much for was the pool. It was a little too cold for swimming and the hot tub wasn't heated and we never could find a place to turn on the jets. However, I would highly recommend this hotel as a place to stay on your visit to Costa Rica.

“Great!”

The hotel was much nicer than it looks in the pictures. The rooms seem to be brand new. The shower was bigger than any shower I have ever been in and the views are amazing! The staff was very helpful, breakfast was good. Our friends did have quite a few bugs in their room (we didn't) but it was the same pretty much everywhere we stayed in Costa Rica. I would definitely go back!

“Beautiful setting”

Each room is a small cabin with a balcony front and back, one of which has a view of the volcano. The one wall facing the volcano can be totally opened so that you have full view of the spectacular scenery. The howler monkeys, birds and other wildlife can be heard in the early morning. A tucan was right outside our balcony one morning. Staff is great, bar is good, great pool and hot tub, hearty breakfast...I would go back.

“Beautiful stay by the volcano”

We loved our stay at Lomas del Volcan last month. We were there for 4 days and 3 nights and I wish we could have stayed longer. The staff was friendly and helpful, and the accommodations were very comfortable and well-kept. We loved the landscape and the view of the volcano, and found the entire experience very relaxing and inspiring. I am glad we had a car though, as the hotel itself is on a slight hill, maybe almost a mile from the main street. The road to get from the main street to the hotel is unpaved and quite bumpy. So if you do have a car, be ready for a rocky road. We found after traveling through other areas of the country though, that this particular road was typical though of the bad roads all over. Be ready for a driving experience!! I would go back to Lomas del Volcan in a heartbeat though. Having your own bungalow that is quiet, spacious and in such a stunning setting, is something worth doing more than once.
