Amazing hotel in the rain forest!Posted Sep 1, 2014
We had an amazing room with great views of the Arenal volcano. The large balcony had a jacuzzi and we enjoyed the hot mineral waters every evening listening to the sounds of the rain forest. Amazing place!

Great hotel but pricey to get around without a carPosted Aug 16, 2014
Beautiful hotel with secluded rain forest feel. Staff is excellent. Traveled during rainy season and did not feel that service suffered. Good choice if you're looking to disconnect a bit and really enjoy your surroundings. No wifi in the rooms and long walk to the main area from rooms (although golf cart transportation was available). The restaurant food was okay, nothing great. The lack of diverse food options wouldn't have been a problem, but getting anywhere in a cab is very pricey (at least $25 USD bc cabs are coming from La Fortuna). There are a variety of restaurants/ activities within close driving distance, so if we had a car, this would not be an issue. For someone who likes leaving the hotel and exploring the area, this ended up getting very pricey. But, overall, this a beautiful and unique hotel. Definitely recommend a room with an outdoor shower. We also used the spa and it was great.

PERFECT for Rain Forest and RelaxingPosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: The shorter hiking loop is a marvelous jungle experience.
Cons: The longer hiking trail loop is fit for Indiana Jones; that means it is unsafe for even experienced hikers.
This is a wonderful resort for quiet rain forest experiences. Light, primitive hiking on the grounds. Bring a rain jacket - you are in the mountains and in the cloud/rain forest. This is a jungle resort. Be advised that groundskeeping and maintenance must be never-ending work; the staff are wonderful.

beautiful hotel in the rain forestPosted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: The location was beautiful. We liked the layout with the rooms
Location: It was near the volcano which had hiking.
We were late getting to the hotel. We got there at 9:30 at night. They stayed late in the kitchen and cooked us dinner and were supper nice about it. The hotel was beautiful with gorgeous landscaping. We loved our room, it was clean and very comfortable.

AdventurousPosted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: Location, pool, scenery. Almost everything!
Cons: Door entry into the lodges could use a little better fit to keep the huge variety of bugs out. Absolutely no Wifi in rooms but perfect in the receptio
Location: 20 minutes from Skytrek ziplining and 30 minutes from La Fortuna.
Beautiful location far away from the other resorts. Made things a little hard to get around but that was the reason for booking here. Taxis were a little costly into Arenal Volcano Park. Breakfast buffet was outstanding but dinner was just decent. Absolutely loved the two level pool and swim up bar! Had crazy awesome view of the volcano and lightening storms every night! Cabins located in thick lush jungle was amazing!!

Great Hotel, Far From Everything...Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The pools are great! Very friendly staff.
Location: Hanging bridges are close and fun. The volcano is close (but was shrouded in fog the entire time we were there). Some river activities nearby.
The two pools are wonderful, the food was quite good. Our family enjoyed our stay there very much. It is a close drive or a medium length walk to the hanging bridges activity, which was fun. There are coatis that live at the hotel and they were fun to see. I guess I might warn guests with mobility issues that the hotel is on a hill, so there's some steep walking from rooms to the pool or the restaurant. But, the hotel will drive you anywhere you want if you give the front desk a call. It's pretty far from La Fortuna (like 15 minutes) but it was one of our favorite hotels.

Ideal location with excellent views of the volcanoPosted Jul 2, 2014
Had a fantastic time at Lost Iguana. I would return there in a heartbeat. The staff bends over backwards to make guests feel welcomed. My only gripe are the pillows. They were uncomfortable for me, but then again most hotel pillows are.

Great stay in the rain forestPosted Jun 16, 2014
Tremendous hotel with very friendly staff set in the rain forest with great views of the volcano. The setiing is tranquil, and a little isolated, so you really feel away from everything. I realy enjoyed a two day stay and will come back soon

Great Hotel near ArenalPosted Jun 16, 2014
Pros: The staff, the food, but the view is priceless.
Cons: Wifi was a little sketchy.
Location: Near hanging bridges, Arenal National Park, and 20 minutes from La Fortuna
The staff at Lost Iguana was awesome (especially at the bar.) They really made us feel like guests. The food was much better then we expected for hotel food. The hotel is a little out of the way from La Fortuna, but worth it for the peace and quiet and abundant wildlife. Also, it was pretty close to Arenal National Park and the hanging bridges are right up the road. Loved ending the day on the patio in our room or at the bar, with a lovely view of the volcano, fireflies, and the sounds of the forest surrounding us.
