Great hotel for the town of FortunaPosted Dec 24, 2014
Liked the hotel, though a little dated in areas. Offered a lot for the money (pool, spacious rooms, fantastic breakfast)

La Fortunia, Costa RicaPosted Dec 23, 2014
Pros: Location was great, however as with everywhere in CR, the signage to the location wasn't the best, they had a billboard, but it faced one way.
Cons: signage facing both directions.
Location: Location was perfecto, just in front of the volcano. beautiful location in the rain forest
This is definitely a tourist location and a must see if you plan to visit this area,

4 star hotel with beautiful views but no coffee?Posted Dec 8, 2014
Pros: Nice size room and landscaping.
Cons: amenities in the room and overall tour quality.
Upon arriving, we were totally blown away with the surroundings of the hotel. It's obvious that the hotel takes great pride in the landscaping and bungalows. We were given a welcome drink and then given a talking to about the pool towels and that if we did not use the card system we would be charged $20...really? but whatever... When we got to our room we were a little taken back that there was a coffee maker on the dining table, but coffee was not included with the room. Also, there was a space and connections for a mini-fridge yet no mini-fridge. The room was kept clean and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was really cool, and we greatly enjoyed our private porch and Jacuzzi tub. The food at the restaurant was decent, but there was hardly anyone eating there for lunch or dinner. We had a fantastic massage at the hotel and an okay guided tour. We took the combo tour and we felt rushed through the arenal hanging bridges..granted it was raining. I think our guide was more concerned about his scope getting wet, than sharing his knowledge of the rainforest. Would recommended looking at tours in town as they are probably a bit more experience and customer service. Overall we left satisfied with Mountain Paradise, but definitely felt the hotel had more potential and seemed like the management was trying to cut corners at a beautiful hotel.

Never coming back...left my girlfriend in tearsPosted Dec 4, 2014
Pros: The staff mentioned above were great, and the only thing essentially keeping us there
Cons: Everything above, and then some. The rooms need serious attention..Anything outside of the wet bar (i.e. restaurant and rooms) were unpleasant at best
Location: Tons of stuff! Ziplining, ATV, lava flow hike, night hiking, hot springs, waterfalls...just get away from the hotel
My girlfriend and I came here for four days after having a fantastic three days in Tamarindo, looking to celebrate our two year anniversary in the rainforest.. I could write a novel, but there aren't enough characters to express our disappointment. To be brief - the total sum of poor experiences during our stay left my girlfriend crying at one point and both of us stressed out. Not really the best way to end a vacation you've planned for months. Good: -The staff is genuinely friendly as are most in Costa Rica. You have truly talented and amazing staff members working the wet bar (Elver) and also the tour guide on site (Angelo). Both of these gentlemen provided fantastic service and were the only saving grace here. -The grounds are beautiful and the wet bar is a great place to hang out Bad/Ugly: -The restaurant food was bland at best and pricey. Had several other meals elsewhere for far cheaper and much better tasting (tried breakfast, lunch, and dinner) -The room we checked into had ants munching on something in the middle of the room, and the TV had nasty stains of unknown origin. The mattress was not in good shape either. -I understand we're in the rainforest, but the outer doors in 308 were not flush with the floor and there are no screens on the windows...AKA bugs are with you whether you want them to be or not. -The suite we got upgraded to had a faulty jacuzzi, more gaps in the doors, and one night the hot water for the room didn't work...some "upgrade" huh? :(

Great locationPosted Nov 30, 2014
We really liked our stay at the mountain paradise. The staff was extremely friendly. But overall it is understaffed for the facility. We couldn't have asked to be any closer to all the attractions we were going to see and do. It could use some sprucing up. And did seem like they were trying to do their best. We enjoyed the rain forest feel that we got overall.

Very Eco friendly hotel. Close to townPosted Nov 26, 2014
Hotel is in the rainforest. Great hotel for getting close to nature. Lots of bugs but to be expected for the location. I would recommend to a friend.

Exceeded our expectations!Posted Oct 30, 2014
Pros: I loved everything from the hotel! The view, service, food, and clean room service.
Cons: We had a small misunderstanding with one of our tours because the information on the booklet was wrong, but the problem was handled well.
Location: The location was perfect for me. It was close to La Fortuna, but far enough to feel privacy without feeling secluded like the resorts up the hill.
Our stay in the hotel was everything we could of asked for. The room was beautiful, but the best thing was the view of the volcano from our patio. I loved how I could just sit in the patio and enjoyed the sight of not only the volcano, but of the beautiful plants, flowers, and exotic birds in the hotel. The staff was extremely nice and willing to help. When we arrived we were welcomed with cold towels and drinks. The receptionist helped us book our tours and our shuttle. The restaurant breakfast was really delicious, and servers were so nice. The room was always cleane, and our our cleaning lady kept us amused with different towel figures. The location was great because it was close to the city, but felt remote and private. Our private tours consisted of water rafting, hanging trail, waterfall visit, and Baldi spring visit. The tours included transportation, knowledgeable guides, food, and snacks. It was more than I expected, and can't wait to visit again.

Great stay w/lush tropical volcano viewsPosted Oct 29, 2014
Pros: Great rooms, staff and grounds!
Cons: Better food variety at breakfast, but it wasn't bad
Location: Near to volcano, many excursions (ziplines, horse back riding, hiking, rappellling, etc.) We loved the Baldi spa nearby!
Great big room w/great big bed. Bathroom fun, w/waterfall shower and living plants! All rooms have at least a private patio w/chairs, hot tub (or pool), and great volcano views surrounded by beautiful plants. Only downside was occasional bugs on floor, but that's too be expected given natural surroundings and we did leave the sliding doors open to enjoy the outside views and air. Staff greeted us by name w/drinks. Always had positive experience w/all staff and pool was fun w/swim up bar. food at the restaurant was average to good.
