Great spa average accommodations.Posted Mar 4, 2014
Average room for the price at least expected A lounging chair in room, there was a huge space for it but staff said not all rooms have one and it would be an upgrade, for a chair? Hard to believe.

LUXURIOUS HOTEL WITH OUTSTANDING HOT SPRINGSPosted Feb 9, 2014
Pros: The best hot springs
Cons: Transport to and from town
Location: Sky Ventures ziplines are fantastic - very well managed and breathtaking to ride. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Tabacon is expensive but remains a good value because of unlimited access to the hot springs, which are spectacular. The rooms are lovely, if sparsely furnished. The hotel staff is friendly and attentive. The food is good although not exceptional. The only minor negative would be the distance to La Fortuna which requires an $18.00 cab ride. The hotel should really offer a scheduled shuttle. Food in town is good and cheap, so even with the taxi, the trip is still worthwhile

Float AwayPosted Feb 8, 2014
Pros: We liked everything about it! The food is sensational!
Cons: Maybe the front desk. I don't know if the man who helped us was uncomfortable with his English or just not the warmest guy. Everyone else was great.
Location: Drive to the lake! Also hike and drive to the other side to see the lava flow! Otherwise, just FLOAT!
We floated the whole time we were there - in the hot springs, in the glorious pool, back and forth from our comfortable room, and through the delicious meals. We tell everyone about this place. Every room has a view of the volcano, clouds permitting. There is a well equipped fitness center, and across the street is the entrance to the national park. We've been to Tabacon twice now, and we intend to be back soon!

Great experience at the hot springsPosted Feb 3, 2014
Great meal more expensive than other great restaurants in Costa Rica. 3 hours from Liberia, book a shuttle $49 a person as opposed to a taxi at $190 US.

Very fun and beautiful!Posted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: The hot springs pools, waterfalls, and gardens
We had a blast at the hot springs and have never experienced anything like it before. So many different pools to relax in, and in such beautiful gardens. The hotel grounds were also beautiful.

Pros: Everything- from the beginning to the end. From the time we entered to the moment we left!
Location: Location was fabulous- great views of the volcano, amazing thermal springs, close to National Park! It was only a 2 hr 45 min drive from SJO!
My husband and I have travelled to numerous places- different islands and cities- but Tabacon in Arenal Volcano is on our top 5 resorts we have been to! This place exceeded our expectations- it was just beautiful- everything about it was just awesome!!!

Great hotelPosted Jan 14, 2014
Pros: rooms, grounds, staff, location, view of Arenal
Location: near La Fortuna
We stayed for four nights (family with 2 adults & 2 kids) & enjoyed our stay. We were first assigned to room 101 & spent one night there. I didn't like it much as it is wheelchair accessible, so the shower is in a corner of the bathroom & the whole bathroom floor got wet easily (no separate shower stall or tub). We switched to room 323 for the next 3 nights & it was much better, both due to the bathroom (had a tub) & the view-- we could see Arenal from the room!. 101 is on the 1st floor, so no view. Also, bathroom in 101 was not the cleanest, but we had no issues with cleanliness after that. The hotel has beautiful grounds, very friendly staff & you have access to the hot springs across the street. The hot springs are a little over the top-- many many pools & waterfalls & a water slide too. Our kids LOVED the hot springs & it was hard to tear them away at the end of the day. The dinner buffet at the hot springs is very pricey with ok food. We mostly drove in to La Fortuna (about 15 min drive) to eat dinner there-- more options & cheaper prices. Beds were not that comfy, but I am particular about mattresses. They did have a feather filled pillow top over the mattress, which helped.
