Good size room, good quiet location.

Pros: Location and room. Good choice of hot food for breakfast and eggs were cooked perfectly.
Cons: Hot chocolate fort breakfast.
Location: Excellent location. Near main area but away from noise.
The hotel is within a few minutes walk of the main square. Room size was good and having facilities to make hot drinks and have a fridge in the room was brilliant.

Terrible Service!

The service at this hotel was awful! We found that the general staff was cold and a little short with us. The only staff who felt genuinely welcoming and friendly were the two managers. Our stay began with a confused (though friendly) manager who seemed to have trouble finding our reservation. We were told that we could wait while our room was prepared. When I contacted Expedia, they told me that the hotel had confirmed the reservation, so it seems that organization/communication at this hotel is poor. In addition to the poor service, we also felt that this hotel was continuously trying to rip us off. I sent out a large load of laundry and received a bill for a little over US$100.00! An item of clothing was not returned to us, nor was it on the receipt, yet initially they wanted to charge us for sending it to Lima. The second problem occurred when we were checking out, and they tried to charge us double for the room. The problem in this case was that when I handed the night manager my reservation confirmation, I gave him the their reservation as well as the one from my hotel in Lima, by accident. The price for the hotel in Lima was used, even though it was double the nightly rate posted at the front desk. Worst of all as far as experiences goes, however, was during breakfast. I had specified that I was vegetarian to the waitress, but I received an omelet that contained ham. Overall, this was one of the worst experiences I have EVER had at a hotel.

Great option in Arequipa

The hotel arranged a transfer for us (small additional charge) and the driver was waiting for us at the airport with our name. They also offered us a welcome pisco sour which was a nice touch. The hotel has a great modern vibe but is in a building that retains vintage characteristics. The hotel is in easy walking distance to the main square and we felt very safe walking around. The only negative is that the housekeeping team were extremely loud in the morning while we were still trying to sleep (around 7:30 a.m.).
