“Perfect hotel in Cortona”

Excellent hotel - rooms are big, the building itself is stunning, and it's in a great location a few steps away from the main square. Looking forward to going back!

This is must-see destination. We wished we had stayed longer in the town. The hotel exceeded our expectations and was just charming. Would highly recommend it. Our visit to Tuscany was in October 2010.

“Utterly charming”

Cortona is an amazing southern Tuscan hill town with incredible views. Once in the walled city and at the top of a steep hill is the Hotel San Michele, a Renaissance palazzo near the central piazza. The hotel is utterly charming and comfortable, the staff are very accomodating, and the breakfasts were excellent. Highly recommended. Can't wait to go back.

“San Michele, Cortona - An excellent hotel, in an excellent location”

We had a room on the front of the hotel, which can be noisy early morning if you have the window open, but the view wasn't bad over the roof tops. The breakfast was good and you could even get a cup of tea. The room we had was one of the smallest, looking at the plan on the back of the door, but it was a big room so some of the rooms must have been enormous. The staff were very friendly, but there isn't any parking so you have to park at one the gates, but that's no hardship as none of them are more and a five minute walk from the hotel. The hotel is located just off the main square - looking at the church take the road off the square to the left and you are right there. We did like this hotel and the bed was very comfy.

“Just as enjoyable the second time around”

We enjoyed our stay at the San Michele so much last year that we returned there again this year. The staff remembered us and greeted us warmly. We had the same room as last year--clean, quiet and comfortable. Wonderful breakfasts were included in an elegant dining room, reminding you that this place used to be a Renaissance palace. All service was very attentive. Cortona is a lovely hill town with only one level street. Everything is all up and downhill. So prepare for serious walking. Only problem we had was we arrived on a day of car races up and down the hill roads. So it took a while to find an alternate route up to the top. Once there, Cortona was great.
