“A home away from home in Tuscany, only better, a restored 18th c. villa with all the mod cons !”
Ten minutes north of Arezzo on the Rome Florence intercity fast train service, this restored 18th century villa looks out over secluded formal gardens and grounds to open countryside and mountains beyond to give the traveler a sense of peace and tranquility after a long hard day of sightseeing in the historic hilltop medieval cities in the foothills of the Apennines or the vineyards of the Arno valley. You can rise at leisure in the morning, cross the Apennines into Umbria and Le Marche and find everything from prehistoric burial mounds to ducal palazzos, museums full of Renaissance high art alongside Etruscan artifacts. The historic villa itself is nothing short of spectacular. No two rooms are alike, even the most economical, full of atmosphere, with beamed ceilings, tiled floors and baths with showers or tubs and seating areas. The gourmet restaurant offers several set menus as well as a la carte, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and more than helpful. Tuscan cuisine and fine local wines and olive oil are featured specialties. An hour's drive or less from most must-see destinations Florence, Siena, Perugia, Urbino, wine meccas Montecino, Montepulchiano. Classic . It was our base in Tuscany for three days and nights. We loved every minute there, and after checking out the first time, changed our plans and rebooked at the end of our trip for one more night. Next time we travel to Italy we'll head straight for Badia di Campoleone and stay there the whole time.
