Very difficult to regulate the water temperature in the shower. Either scalding hot or ice cold. Hard to get clean under those conditions.

The picture listed on line is not from the property. Amenities advertised do not exist. No restaurant or bar. The hotel is in really bad shape and need to be renovated. The lady running the place was really nice.

Greeted by the owner who appeared to be alone. No assistance with baggage, no lifts. Same state as a 1970,s B&B. The owner was friendly and helpful. No breakfast, although tea and coffee were available in the room. The room was small and old fashioned, but clean. The best room was the bathroom which was just recently refurbished and almost the same size as the bedroom.

The bathroom was new and bigger than the room. Know one said we had to climb 8 fights of stairs to the tiny room. It was clean, but old furniture. It felt like a cheap, youth hostel. Very expensive for so little.

Rather strange experience. Guests did not check in. Called five hours after check in had closed and we ensured that both the manager and one of the owners were on site as soon as possible to offer assistance.

long weekend stay.
Very comfortable bed, clean room and en suite. Had room with fabulous view. Can get a bit of road noise with window open but to be expected as right on the front. Very convenient for all amenities. Although not a problem for us, there is no lift but quite a few steps which should be a little more clear in the overview as could affect some people. Overall a good experience and would stay again.

Unfortunately like most of the properties in this are we have no lift we advise guests of this before booking. We had no requests for a lower room although we have 2 lower rooms that we try and keep for people with mobility problems.

All of our televisions work and are tested regularly. The satellite box needs to be switched on to provide the channels. The room that was booked had a bathroom not a shower room.

The Palace Hotel is in a great location in Oban. Central to the harbor and the city itself. Lovely family run hotel with a very friendly responsive staff. Bedrooms are nice size and the bathrooms look to have been recently renovated. Some rooms have water view, ours didn't but not a big deal to us. Anne was wonderful and very accomodating. We were very happy with our stay here.

We advertise that our 4 story building has a feature stair case and no lift so that guests are informed before booking. We are sorry that you thought that our budget double room was overpriced, we frequently check our prices against other hotels to ensure that we are amongst the cheapest in the area for a similar room type.

The room and hotel were clean and in good shape. They say renovations are going on but I didn’t see any construction mess. The staff were helpful and polite. The breakfast was delicious and great way to start the morning! Only thing I didn’t like was the pillows. The rest of the stay was great!

Loved the owner and the support we received. Only concern is that the room was on the top floor of a 5 storey building, and there was no elevator. The owners son and husband were very helpful at bringing our bags up and down though, so not a problem unless you have trouble with stairs

Thank you for the time taken to write a review. Unfortunately we do not have a lift in the building and the at busy periods it can be difficult if not impossible to change to an alternative room other than the room that has been booked. The twin rooms are only available on the third and fourth floors. For the assistance of less mobile guests the room with the king size bed on the second floor is fitted with a zip and link bed to give more flexibility for they guests and a shower as opposed to a bath. We also have two lower level double bedrooms with showers although these are often booked out well in advance

Despite the name, The Palace is more of a B&B than a hotel per se. It's a basic, quaint, family-run property located on the main street, just a 2-minute walk from the station and ferry terminal. Not a bad choice, but I would certainly look elsewhere when I return to Oban. POSITIVES - Excellent location near the ferry terminal and train station. NEGATIVES - No elevator: You may need to climb three floors with your luggage. - No wifi, despite the rather misleading sign on the door. - No reception before 8.00am. - No reception after 9.00pm: So beware if you are arriving on the late train from Glasgow.

For the comfort of all guests we do ask people to refrain from ringing the bell after 9pm at night although the owners live on site and for emergency contact their telephone numbers are on display at the reception. Breakfasts can be booked from 7am (advance booking required). A little perplexed about the wifi as we do not advertise wifi at the door however there are several routers throughout the building along with a 3g router in every bedroom. The router in the bar offers speeds up to 74 Mbps.

Great location. Hard to beat. A few minutes from translation, on the waterfront, clean, coffee and tea in room. Super nice hosts. Note: family run hotel. Same family for over 40 years. No elevator. Lobby on 2nd floor, and no provided internet unless you have your own BT or other local account. But that is all fine as need the excursive AND the location makes you want to walk around town as hotel is in the heart of town. Couldn't ask for better stay.....value, clean, location, friendly staff. Perfect.

Nice hotel, older architecture, close to train and ferry. Rooms clean and temperature confortable. Beds in particular were nice — firm and flat. We were in a top floor room and hotel had no elevator, which was a bit of a climb. Water pressure in the shower was quite low up there.

Was a good base to experience the region. Oban is a very pretty seaside town and transport hub for people looking to visit the isles. Staff were super friendly and helpful, went out of their way to make our stay pleasant.

Thank you for your kind words. We are not sure why you would not have any hot water as it is set to 60c 24 hours per day and is tested daily.
