Arona, Lake Maggiore Hotels

Set on the shores of Lake Maggiore, Arona is in the foothills of the Alps, and about 68 km from Milan. This former Roman resort offers historical churches, and castle ruins near the lake. The nephew of Pope Pius IV, Saint Charles Borromeo, was born here. A statue of him in Arona was erected in 1697 and stands 35 meters tall.
