Nice hotel close to the beach.Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Cleanliness, helpful staff, great amenities.
Location: Aruba is a small, quiet and secure island, great for relaxing. Not much else to do than water sports and visit their national park.
Spent 2 weeks of wonderful vacation in a spotless hotel, close to the beach, with beautiful swimming pools and gardens. Very helpful and pleasant staff. Would go back without hesitation.

a wonderful way to celebrate turning 50Posted Jan 26, 2015
Pros: The cleanliness/friendly staff
Cons: Sound proof the walls/floors for rooms located above the open lobby concept; as loud music is playing 24/7
Location: A short walk to a mall, eateries off property, other hotels/casinos. 15 minute walk to sign up for snorkeling/sunken ship day trip
January is the coldest month in upstate NY and getting away for a 4 night 5 day stay in Aruba was fantastic!! Having my 50th birthday celebration there was awesome. The hotel gave me a complimentary $30.00 voucher to do what I wish with....(got us a couple of 2 for 1 happy hour drinks). The grounds are just lovely; clean and pretty. Check in was easy, no waiting, no hassle. Upon arrival at the front desk we were welcomed with a rum punch drink and a cool/damp wash cloth, served with a friendly smile. Our room was perfect/ an ocean-view suite, hard wood and tiled floors; no carpeting which is a definitely plus. A wonderful experience and we look forward to visiting same time next year.

Nice resort but needs updatingPosted Jan 25, 2015
Pool and beach area are nice but you need to be up early to reserve a chair-and that was with the resort was fairly empty! Sand in ocean was muddy...felt gross. Spa was nice but both my daughter and I thought our massages were disappointing. Ruth Chris steakhouse was excellent and Texas de Brazil in town was fantastic. Gianni's in town was mediocre. Food everywhere is EXPENSIVE. Another drawback is that you cannot walk to town as there are no sidewalks. $6 quick cab ride to town which was bustling-wish we had stayed at Radisson as it was across the street from everything. Overall I enjoyed my stay but I think the money I spent on a deluxe ocean view (was put between the pool and lobby so it was always noisy at night between pool music and wedding receptions) was not worth the money.

Closest hotel to Vela windsurfingPosted Jan 24, 2015
I selected the Marriott Stellaris because of its proximity to Vela for windsurfing. It takes only seconds to get from room to beach, and I think it's probably the best place to stay for that purpose. I also checked out the neighboring Ritz, which had a very strange perfumed smell throughout, so strong that it permeated even the food materials in its buffet which I also tried (the granola, for example, tasted like some sort of bizarre cologne). So, I think the food was definitely better at the Marriott generally, although I found that a New York strip at Ruth's Chris was quite gristley. Regarding the hotel staff at large, I felt that the spirit of hospitality was missing. Exceptions included Francis in the La Vista dining room, which otherwise was poorly run. Diesel engines are popular on the island, especially for delivery trucks, which seem to idle at the delivery dock throughout the day. The offshore breeze then carries the fumes across the resort continuously, especially at the nearby adult pool. The Stellaris is a "non-smoking" hotel...EXCEPT for the casino (from which smoke constantly chimneys into the entire lobby!), oh, and the balconies-I found that all it took was one patron smoking a cigarette or cigar outside his room to pollute the entire courtyard with tobacco smoke. The inside of my room smelled like smoke too. Check-In was delayed, and my account was incorrect at checkout. Overall, not a Marriott-level experience.

We spent a lot of time at the adult pool and have to say the Clifford was awesome and so nice to see every morning always smiling and ready to make us comfortable. We hope to see him there on our next visit! Everyone from the staff to the bar tenders are great at their jobs and customer service! It was a last minute decision to go away for us but it was the best time. Very relaxing! Hope to go again soon.

Nice hotel & pool but beach facilities strangePosted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: Good rooms & staff. Beach restaurant was very good for lunch and dinner
Cons: Better beach chair/hut use & casino air quality, and rooms are a bit tired with old rugs and furniture
Location: Good restaurants & some good casinos.
Hotel & pool were good but the use of beach huts needed for shade on beach by ocean was strange. You have to sign up for huts. Half were free but you had to get up early & stand in line. Even if you wanted to pay (payment went towards food & drink on beach), you had to sign up days in advance & you still might not be able to get close to beach. The hotel sub contracts the beach chair set up. Food is good. Casino is too smokey & smoke spreads to hotel lobby. Aruba is a good January island destination for weather & restaurants.

Cons: maybe a better pillow selection
We came for our honeymoon. The staff was wonderful! From the second we walked on to the property, we were greeted with rum punch. The room had a giant heart on the bed made from rose petals, a bottle of champagne, and a beautiful hand written card. Amazing experience. Would go back tomorrow if I could!

hotel along the beach.Posted Jan 12, 2015
Pros: Ruth's Chris - Awesome!
Cons: a café in the lobby? come on who wants to eat in a hotel lobby on VACATION? The only other on site is a buffet. YUCK.
Location: rent a jeep and tour the island. Upgrade your smart phone to allow international roaming data, use google maps and go!
The hotel was fine. The concierge staff each time we tried to stop -- very unfriendly. And pay attention to your hertz bill from the hotel -- a little bait and switch going on!

Hotel experience.Posted Jan 5, 2015
Pros: Service and grounds
Cons: Bathrooms are outdated relaltive to other high end hotels.
Location: Great location on the beach. easy to walk to lots of stuff.
Very nice hotel and facilities. We stayed in the private section and the service was excellent. The grounds are a cut above other Aruba facilities. The food was very good as well. Expensive, but worth it.
