WHAT A DISASTER!Posted Dec 3, 2013
Pros: It used to have a friendly staff - not any more so pretty much nothing. Food is awful.
Cons: Have some consideration for the guests. People who were told about the renovations (we were not - Thanks Expedia) were told they would be done by 12/1
Location: They are moving the downtown area to Palm beach with upscale national stores. If I wanted to go to the mall I would have stayed home and gone.
Let me preface this by saying that we have stayed at the Holiday Inn Aruba for over 22 years. Clearly we have always liked the hotel and staff. The hotel was being renovated and there was little or no concern for the guests. Everyone sitting on the beach had complaints. Our room overlooked a Construction Site and the noise started no later than 7:30am. To add more they ran a noisy compressor and the diesel fumes blew right up into the room and there was no chance of sitting on that ocean front balcony you may extra for.The compressor ran all hours of the day and night. We were at the end of the hall and the lights were out - it took two days of phone calls to get the light bulbs changed so we could safely get to out room at night. Our shower drain gurgled so loud even if you closed the bathroom door you could still hear it. The rooms were supposedly renovated which consisted of the same old furniture with new drawer pulls on them. We were promised free breakfast - never happened. The person who checked is in was borderline rude - take that back - she was really rude. We never got room charge cards, beach towel cards or a smile and a welcome. I kept my cool until our room was filled with diesel fumes and then spoke to a manager. She offered us dinner but wasn't particularly concerned. When I asked to get moved to another room she had them turn off the equipment. My advice - stay away. We won't be back. Some people complained and got moved to the Rio.

Nice hotel on the beachPosted Dec 2, 2013
We only stayed one night because of other plans, but we really enjoyed it and found it priced reasonably. It is located right in the beach and we definitely would go back!!!

The right location.Posted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: The location is fantastic.Within walking distance of almost everything. They're busy renovating the old lobby so it could get noisy every now and then
Cons: They could really give the front desk employees a hospitality training.
Location: As mentioned earlier the location is great. A lot of restaurants close by.
Even though my husband and I stay at the Holiday Inn every time we're in Aruba, we still find the front-desk staff really unfriendly. They don't even have a smile on their face to welcome you, and they keep babbling away in Spanish or Papiamento even if you tell them that you speak English and don't understand what they're saying, but we really enjoy our stay every time.

ConstructionPosted Nov 16, 2013
Pros: That it was right by the water and all the restaurants were close to each other. The hotel was also accessible to other stores (mall) across the St.
My best friend had her wedding there and was not informed of the construction that was taken place where the reception was supposed to be. The construction also affected us from have more options to eat for the all inclusive package and it is not fair that we still had to pay the same price. There were a couple of hot tubs but only one was really hot and the jets did not work for most of the team we were there, not until the last day we left. The staff was friendly and the cleanliness was great, but the facilities under construction were very distracting to us. We understand improvements need to be done but communication to let us be aware of it would be nice. Thank you.

Aruba DisappointmentPosted Nov 10, 2013
Pros: Rooms were upgraded tastefully and mattresses were comfortable.
Cons: Food quality, wait staff and cleanliness at pool area.
Location: Restaurants in Aruba are wonderful and we love being on the strip near Azzurro's and Gianni's. Our favorite places are Pinchos, and Flying Fishbone
We were celebrating my husband's 65th birthday, and our 37th anniversary and were very disappointed in our stay. We have been to Aruba many times as we are Time Share owners, as well as guests at this hotel. This time, the constant noise from construction going on all over the hotel made it very annoying and caused headaches daily. There was noise from jack hammers, saws and nail banging from very early in the a.m., until 6:30 p.m. six days per week. The prices for food and others items at the hotel have skyrocketed and were not worth the prices. The existence of waiters or waitresses bringing drinks was almost non existent and I was glad we were not all inclusive. The hotel did grant our request for a first floor room near the pool, and we were grateful for that much at least. We will not return to this hotel unless the atmosphere and prices are much more appealing. They, or you should make it known to potential guests that the hotel is undergoing reconstruction.
