The Edge of Paradise

Pros: Walking distance to everything - beach, pools, restaurants, and casino.
Cons: Slow check-in
Location: Lovely grounds
Very nice hotel and staff. Beautiful pools and grounds that were kept up nicely. Never had a wait for elevators of longer than 30 sec. The check-in process was too slow for us(on a Friday afternoon), but that was the only negative for us. Definitely will return for another vacation.

Good facilities, short on staff.

House keeping & security staff are shorthanded keeping up with the customer flow. Lots of room for improvement here.

Nice Hotel
Posted Jan 24, 2012
Pros: Pool area, restaurants.
Cons: Prices of food / lack of a nearby grocery store.
Location: The high-rise hotel area in Aruba is a fairly calm but touristy area/beach. But, it's not far from remote places to explore - so its a good balance!
The hotel room was good, everything worked great. A little bar area with a sink & fridge was great for quick snacks (and making quite a few drinks). Our room was almost on the top floor of the hotel so we spent some time out on our patio with delicious pizza delivered to our room. There was a decent TV with all the channels we needed, and the bed was comfortable. Clean.

Great resort for families with kids!

Pros: Inguanas excited our two year old! They are all over the pool area! The sea was very warm. About 86 degrees! Pristine blue waters!
Cons: Reserving chairs/papalas
Location: Locatio. Nice, you just have to walk ten minutes to reach other hotels and restaraunts
This hotel is super family friendly! We had breakfast and lunch in our villa daily and then went out for dinners. A great way to save money! The tagging system of chairs was a slight pain, we learned to tag one chair instead if six because in all honesty, we stayed in the pool or Carribran Sea like fishes. You don't need the chairs except to lounge your things. The papalas required reserving and we did okay with that too! A great resort!

Aruba - Marriott Surf Club
Posted Jan 27, 2012 on Hotels.com
The hotel is wonderful. We have stayed there before. Folks tend to travel in crowds there so be sure to go with friends/family. A few nits about the hotel. There is a tagging process for pool chairs that takes place at roughly 6:15 AM. If you are not an early bird or traveling with one, you will not be sitting at the hotel pool. Also, we rented our unit from a time share owner and needed one extra night so I booked the one night online. The room we spent the week in was available for the last night, but because the hotel could not figure out how to charge me the extra fee for it and still get paid from the online service, we had to pack and move to the room next door! They had a week to sort this out and weren't able to do it. This was the case with the 5 other families we traveled with who are owners of time share weeks. All that aside, the accomodations were lovely and we had an amazing time!

Good Hotel, comfortable and new
Posted Jan 9, 2012
Pros: Comfort, pool and beach
Cons: Limited room service (pizza only)
Location: Great place to relax
We were so happy to find the beds and pillows were SO comfortable... fun pool area for the kids, the beach is a few paces away but within the hotel so very safe walking the children there. The only food room service is Pizza... not a problem for kids; they have good onsite restaurants and you have to walk to these. Our only suggestion to this Marriott is to expand their room service; sometimes we are too tired to walk back out after a fun day at the pool and the beach and like dining in. Good hotel overall! +++

Marriott's Surf Club was wonderful! We fell in love with the Lazy River and having cocktails served on the beach :-) If I had to find one flaw, it would be that we were in the building closest to the beach :-) but farthest from the lobby & parking lot so lots of walking, but a fantastic restful vacation. They aimed to please to their guests.
