Clean nice place, and very friendly stuff

Posted Feb 4, 2014
Cons: Put the tip jar in the lobby :)
We stayed at this hotel the night of arrival to Tanzania, before we went on a safari. Everyone on the stuff was incredibly nice - we arrived in the middle of the night, and had no trouble checking in. The room and the bathroom were both clean, although tiny. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot, the toiletries were provided. The breakfast in the morning was awesome - plenty of fruit, and hot items (eggs, porridge) cooked to order. The stuff went out of their way to make us comfortable - they served breakfast after the official "breakfast end time" because we needed to sleep in due to very late arrival. I wish we also stayed there the night after safari on the way out of the country (instead of staying in a supposedly fancy downtown hotel which was supposed to be "five star" but turned out to be terrible).

Very pleasant, quiet hotel set in pretty garden

Posted Jan 30, 2014
Pros: Very comfortable, attractive and quiet with helpful staff and lovely garden.
Cons: Food. Breakfast is very substantial (eggs, porridge, toast) but for supper I had a boney, grisly and expensive chicken curry from the freezer.
Location: The hotel is a bit out of town, tucked away from the main road up a rough track; many locals and taxi drivers are aren't familiar with it.
On entry through the gates it looks like a very smart house, rather than hotel. It is deceptively large but has a very homely, quiet feel and there is a pretty garden at the front and courtyard beyond the reception area. The ensuite rooms are immaculate, attractive and v.well appointed but not huge. The beds are super-comfy and the staff very welcoming and helpful. The internet connection is erratic unless you use the modem - which is shared with other guests. The electricity went off a few times in the night - a bit of a pain as I needed to pack for early start the next day. In all, I would highly recommend the hotel, particularly if you have the energy to go into town for supper.

Great peaceful place to stay

Posted Jan 5, 2014 on Hotels.com
Just a 5min cab ride to the center of town this is a fantastic new peaceful place to stay. The staff is fantastic, the quality of the room great. The only challenge is internet in that it is spotty at best. I would stay here again and in fact am going to after going on Safari with my mother.

Great hotel prior to safari!

Posted Oct 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
Just stayed one night prior to departing on safari. Great place especially when comparing to others in the area. Surrounding area looks a little rough at night but the yard is equipped with an electric fence. Hotel staff was super accommodating and kept up until we checked in at 10pm. They insisted on feeding us breakfast even though out safari departed before breakfast served. Would recommend to anyone.

Amazing service, great value

Here is a special place to which I look forward to returning. It is really a small lodge rather than a hotel, and the individual attention and accommodation is amazing. For example, rather than just give directions or stick us in a taxi, the hotel receptionist accompanied us on some errands that we needed to do in town, and we found everything very efficiently that way. The dining room is small and cozy, and the hand-written menu changes each night, allowing guest 3-4 options for each of the three dinner courses. Free Wifi worked most of the time. The room was clean and the bed extremely comfortable. The recessed lighting was slightly on the dim side but not a problem. Everyone was so eager to serve. One thing to be aware of ahead of time--this place is a bit off the beaten track. It is not far from town, but the turnoff onto a rough dirt road and across a narrow bridge is a bit shocking. I gave it all 5's in my review except for "surrounding neighborhood" which is residential and not bad, but if your taxi driver doesn't know the place then it could be a problem. I would have the hotel arrange a taxi on arrival, which I'm sure they would be happy to do.

Best Service and Cleanliness in Tanzania

Posted Sep 22, 2013 on Hotels.com
Absolutely favorite hotel from my 2 weeks in Tanzania. The service and cleanliness of Zawadi House are unmatched. My friend and I reserved a room using hotels.com which said "1 queen and 1 single bed." When we arrived, they didn't have a room with two beds and instead gave us 2 entire queen bed rooms. Dinner from the hotel restaurant was delicious. The location was an easy taxi ride into town, so my friend and I enjoyed a night of dancing at via via, a short taxi ride away. We stayed at a couple other hotels in Arusha which were a little closer to town, but this one was far superior and will definitely be the place for me if/when I return.

The staff was more than willing to arrange an airport pickup from Kilimanjaro airport (a 45-minute drive). As we were heading out early the next day, they even arranged an early breakfast at 5:30am, fully prepared by their in-house chef. My only advice for future guests: if paying by credit card, ensure that you settle your bill by 9pm, as the reception desk may not be staffed, and only certain staff are able to use the credit card machine. Other than this, we had a wonderful stay and would recommend Zawadi House to any traveller, especially those in need of some quiet comforts after a long day in transit.

in the heart of city center and not far frm airpor

Pros: Big lobby, lift availability, kitchen and bar
Cons: the hotel accepts credit cards only for a minimum bill of USD 50. The same can be improved for hasslefree travel.
Location: fast ferry is nearby
I had a smooth check-in. However, no portel was available to bring luggage to my room. I had booked a smoking room. The hotel staff were not able to get me a matchbox. Apart from this, everything was fine. Good food with wide options in vegetarian / Indian cuisine.

OUTSTANDING!!

Posted Aug 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
The Zawadi House was the first stop on my wife and I's honeymoon. We were deciding between the large upscale hotels in Arusha or a smaller B&B type setting. I'm happy we picked the smaller setting and extremely grateful we chose the Zawadi House. The staff is outstanding and very accommodating. They make the place! We arrived into Tanzania at 3 AM and I was a bit nervous about navigating our arrival at this time and in a foreign place. With the help of the staff, this was not an issue one bit. Our luggage was lost, Zawadi House helped take care of it. Arusha is a bit chaotic, but the Zawadi House helped us navigate through it. Zawadi House serves as an oasis off the beaten path, yet just as close to the center of town as the rest of the hotels. We would not have received the level of service at any other hotel, regardless of the price or the number of stars. I could not recommend the Zawadi House enough!! Everything exceeded our expectations and was perfect!!
