Hotel was undergoing renovation.

Posted May 2, 2015
They failed to disclose that they were undergoing construction and renovation. The room was clean, staff friendly, and the bed and pillows very good quality.

Disappointing

Posted Apr 30, 2015
Our stay from beginning to end was disappointing. First, the hotel does not have a great curb appeal right now. They are under renovations, parking is terrible, and it was just not at all what we expected. When we went to check in, my husband and I found out that they had booked us for a standard double bed room. Apparently booking through Expedia just gives you a standard room and does not guarantee you a king bed even if you select that while booking. Then, once we got to our room, we were practically in the basement. You walk in on the 3rd floor, and we were on the 1st floor. We had "mountain view" (aka views of some trees on the golf course and the jogging trail), but you just felt like you were in the basement. We were also by the elevators and could hear them running all night long. On our last morning there, we ate breakfast at the buffet because we were given that as compensation for the room ordeal on day 1. We sat down at a table and ate our entire meal with a server never coming over to our table to offer us a drink or anything. All in all, the entire stay was not great, and not what we wanted for a romantic getaway. Hopefully the hotel will be nicer once the renovations are done, but in the meantime I would suggest going elsewhere. We will not be going back to this hotel.

One Week in Asheville - Crowne Plaza Resort

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: The grounds and the Expo Center were in great shape. The location is also a plus
Cons: As noted - renovations should solve some of the out-dated areas.
Location: Really liked being close to town and the fine restaurants.
I recently attended a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel national specialty at this site. Overall I was pleased with the hotel staff and their attempts to be accommodating during the completion of renovations. The hotel staff were always pleasant even though we had numerous requests throughout the week. The renovations were not complete but the restaurant opened on our arrival. The breakfasts were very good and the service was excellent. The dinner menu however was not what I expected. I expected more regional food and basic steak, chicken and fish offerings. It was explained that the menu was in transition and would be updated upon the approval of the corporate office. The rooms were clean and well maintained in the portion of the hotel that I stayed as a guest. I should note that the event managers and banquet managers were able to turn over banquet space and event space in a timely manner and worked extremely hard to manage several groups at one time. The hotel should be extremely pleased with the performance of their staff. I mainly dealt with Jordan and Traci who were professional in all aspects of our event - Please Thank them.

Nice hotel, getting better, but under renovation.

Posted Apr 18, 2015
Pros: The staff. Location. Amenities were good, but didn't get to take advantage of many of them.
Cons: Raise the shower heads, or add hand held.
Location: Their motto is "Keep Asheville Wierd". It's a Bohemian lifestyle kind of place right next to the capitalist excess of Biltmore House. and gardens.
They kept the construction issues to a minimum during what seems like some major renovations. We went there a few years ago for a convention, and can tell marked improvement during a romantic . The staff was attentive and friendly. Only real complaint: The shower heads only work for those under 5'5" tall.

Buzz...

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: comfy beds Staff was friendly. Food was good.
Cons: The bar manager was a little on the arrogant side. But food was very plentiful and tasted good.
There was a terrible buzzing noise in the room and it was annoying when the fan was off. Wish we had time to enjoy the hotel,. We were just there for an overnight and didn't use many of the hotel amenities other than food. I would stay again. Staff was very nice. Bar manager was a little on the arrogant side but food was good. Staff brought additional towels ASAP

Crowne Plaza Asheville was great!

Posted Apr 6, 2015
Pros: Beautiful views and location.
Location: Nice aquatics center and zipline adventure park right beside the hotel. Shuttles on the half hour to downtown Asheville.
Spent three nights at Crowne Plaza in Asheville. and had a great time. Hotel was undergoing renovations, but the hotel staff were more than helpful in giving us perks to overlook the work going on. Had a sandwich and and beer in hotel bar and shot a rack of pool. Very nice.

There is a pay shuttle to and from downtown. We had to call four times to get a ride back to the hotel, the driver was 40mins late and completely rude. The rest of the staff was pleasant.

The hotel was was difficult to find. It was extremely noisy. The guest were very loud. The hotel did not look like it did in the photos online. While the room was comfortable and clean, I would not stay there again.
