Loud and overpriced

Posted Nov 21, 2014
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Everything.
Problems with this hotel: 1.) It is very loud. Noise from the elevator and hallways can be heard throughout the night. 2.) The "indoor pool" advertised on the website is actually inside a building about 200 yards from the hotel. 3.) The picture of the hotel on the website is very misleading. It looks like a Super 8, and has the feel of a Red Roof Inn. 4.) It is not particularly convenient to anything. 5.) When I checked out, someone else was complaining about the hotel and service. The staff ignored him. When asked how my stay was, I said 'loud'. The response from the staff consisted of vacant stares. For the price of this hotel, you would expect a lot more. Go stay at Red Roof: you can have the same experience for 25% of the price.

Overall, nice hotel. Have a great benefit of shuttle service to downtown, very convenient.

Cons: I had a massage schedule that was cancelled due to an employee being absent.
We had booked a double double traveling with 3 children. We got "upgraded" to a villa which was very small, with a couch pull out bed as the second double. There was barely enough room with both beds out to walk around in the room. We prepaid with Expedia so that may be why we were "upgraded".

Extremely difficult to get to

Posted Nov 13, 2014
Pros: We had both dinner and breakfast in the dining room and the staff was very friendly. The special for dinner was prime rib but they brought ribeye.
Cons: It would be best used for large conferences and meetings, lot's of parking available. Better training at the front desk might be good.
Location: As said, location was awful. Hard to get anywhere. We did the usual Biltmore and Blue Ridge but I'm grateful we had built in GPS.
The most disappointing part was the difficulty getting to and from the hotel to any point in Ashville. The room was actually good for a motel but to advertise itself as a resort was misleading to me. There was a mixup in the assigning of rooms and our bellhop opened the door to an occupied room which could have been embarrassing for the guest. The management sent a bottle of wine to us I assume for this mistake but the card with it was addressed to the wrong room so I really don't know if it was meant for us or the person whose door was wrongly opened. We were given an extra chit for both breakfast and beverage so from that viewpoint, it was not bad. The management did slip the wrong bill under our door on the morning we left and that was disappointing to see that that person was paying $89 per day and we were paying $135 or so per day. But really, it was the location that was the biggest bummer.

Beautiful View, nice hotel

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: View, staff, grounds
Cons: Food service.
Location: Downtown Asheville is fun to walk around. They have an interesting Arts Museum and good restaurants. The Blue Ridge mountains is beautiful to see.
We had a room with a great view of the mountains. The beds were fairly comfortable. The serves staff was very nice but the food was not that great in the dining room. My husband wanted Pizza on the second night but was told he could only have it with room servers which makes no sense since it was coming from the kitchen at the hotel. The hotels spa and amenities was great. They have a shuttle for $5.00 that will take you into town or to the airport which is very convenient since parking in downtown Asheville is not easy.

Thank you for your comments. I'm so glad that you enjoyed my staff, shuttle, and amenities. I do apologize that you were unhappy with your food. We only offer pizza on the room service menu. I'm sorry for the inconvenience. Shannon Mason AGM

well located, needs updated and better partnership

Posted Oct 13, 2014
Pros: proximity to downtown and the shuttle service to downtown.
Cons: partnership with the neighboring adventure park for discounts, update the rooms, add common modern amenities.
Location: close to downtown, adventure park and the asheville tennis club, plus the scuba school, natural market and amazing breakfast place in the strip mall.
The room was clean, but in need of updates and the 2 double beds were too soft. One of the nights there was a dog next door that wouldn't stop barking. Dogs in supposedly 4 star hotels? It made it feel like we were in the super 8. The hotel is right next to the asheville adventure park/Kolo bike park, but there aren't any discounts available for staying at the hotel. It is a missed opportunity. Especially for families. You have to drive through a strip mall to get to the hotel. weird and confusing, but the grocery store and breakfast place are amazing.

Thank you for your feedback. Most of the hotels in Asheville are dog friendly. We do only put animals on certain floors. I apologize if you were not given a discount at the adventure park as they do offer discounts to our guests. We are renovating this winter and we hope you will come back and give us a second chance. Old and badly needs a remodel

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: The area and land the hotel is on is really nice. It is convenient to get to a from downtown.
Cons: Old and outdated. They need to spend the money to update it.
The hotel is not terrible, but it is old and very much needs a remodel. The carpet, d├ęcor, and amenities are just outdated. The bathroom is so small you can't even open the door the whole way. It was clean but just not really that nice.

Lovely facility. No problems with our stay.

Posted Oct 12, 2014
Pros: There was a lot to like and highly recommend to anyone. Room was beautifully decorated and comfortable.
Cons: Only complaint was the size of the bathroom. Was a little small compared to the size and quality of the room.
Location: Good location and close to town. Lots of good restaurant options in the downtown area.
Nice hotel for the price we paid. Nice room and the most comfortable hotel bed I've ever slept in!!!! Staff was very helpful and friendly.

Very disappointed initially- especially with room

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Convenience
Cons: Update rooms and hallways/lighting/carpet. Bananas at breakfast along with thermoses of hot water and honey for hot tea lovers. Clean balconies
Location: Close to downtown Asheville
With the name 'Crowne Plaza', my expectation were a bit distorted. The property itself is beautiful with zip lines and walking paths but the rooms are dull, and in need of rehab. Bathroom was especially small with the door close to hitting the toilet. The carpet looked old and a musty smell filled the room. Bed was comfortable. The A/C / heat unit was loud and old. Our room overlooked large lawn. Couldn't see mountains. Staff was friendly, and location of property very convenient We paid extra for breakfast. Made to order omelets and waffles were good. No bananas. .
