Will not return to this hotel chain
Posted Jan 9, 2013
All I need is a clean room. This one had clean sheets but stained carpet, upholstery, blanket, etc. the hotel was very run down. Even a bit of paint would make a difference! Staff were nice, breakfast was fine. But I felt unconfortable in the room because of the lack of upkeep overall. Will not do HoJo again

Close to highway, but...

This was close to the highway and the Biltmore mansion. However, it smelled weird and I felt gross inside of it. I would never stay here again.

Cons: Improved the smeel in the room.
Location: Biltmore and visit downtown.
The room had a stale and musky smell. They could improve some new items to the room.

You get what you pay for.

Location: very convenient location
Place is bit of a dump. Ok for my purposes on this reecent trip by myself, but wouldn't go back. Location is excellent but hotel needs some maintenance work for sure. Turned out to be safe but initially gives you an uneasy feeling. If you just need a place to sleep and shower at an inexpensive price, this is fine. Open the towels and check them before you use them. Some were not thoroughly clean.

Close to Biltmore Village
Posted Jan 20, 2013
Pros: Close to town, adequate continental breakfast, wifi easily accessed.
Cons: Showers could use Clorox for mildew stains . The patio door did not properly lock. The draperies were missing a hook and looked dirty.
Location: Close to Biltmore Village and restaurants.
We were disappointed, as similar Howard Johnson lodges in the past (50's and 60's') had been maintained well. Grounds were sorely neglected.

Older hotel nicely located near Biltmore Village.
Posted Jan 13, 2013
Pros: Rooms are clean and comfortable, with updated bathrooms. Rates are good value.
Cons: Grounds and parking lot are a bit shabby. No pool or extra amenities. Noisy heater/air conditioner unit.
Location: Located near entrance to Biltmore Estate and Biltmore Village.
Perfectly acceptable lower cost motel with excellent proximity to Biltmore attractions. Ten minutes to downtown Asheville via Biltmore Avenue. Simple continental breakfast, nothing fancy.

Weekend retreat

Pros: The bed was very comfortable and the blankets very soft.
Cons: The entrance is right at the stop light making it a little tricky to use.
Location: The hotel is very close to the entrance to Biltmore Estates and is very easy to find
It was a very comfortable stay. Really close to Biltmore House which wasour destination. The bed was very comfortable and the blankets were very soft. Lots of pillows. I felt very safe at this hotel. Also liked the private balconies. Use the entrance to the hotel next door to cut down on difficulity from traffic.

not a good place to stay
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Cons: dirt in the corners, stained towels
the room was not clean, carpets dirty, towels were stained, there was a card in the rooom to rate the hotel. It was filled out last summer and hadn't been picked up or replaced. I left at 6:30am and the door to the lobby was locked even though breakfast was supposed to start at 7am. I rang the bell but no one answered so I couldnt drop off the key. This is the last time I stay at Howard Johnsons
