Even though Northwest Wisconsin is not a mass-tourist destination, there are still plenty of things to experience in the vicinity of Ashland. Head 15 miles (24 kilometers) south to Bayfield, where you can check out the Apostle Islands Marina and Madeline Island Ferry Line.
Duluth, is another interesting place to head to. It is around 60 miles (97 kilometers) from Ashland and offers a wide range of attractions, like Canal Park, Lake Superior Maritime Museum and Lester Park Golf Course. Duluth has plenty to offer those willing to stay for a day or two. AMSOIL Arena, Leif Erickson Park and Rose Garden and Miller Hill Mall are some of the other sights worth a visit.
Watersports are a much-loved activity here. When the weather is fine, why not go canoeing or fishing; Northwest Wisconsin has some great spots for it. When you need a break, try out bird watching or camping.
When the time comes to say goodbye to Ashland, head to the nearest major airport situated in Ironwood, 35 miles (56 kilometers) to the east.
