Snowmass offers plenty for the keen outdoors man and family alike. In the winter, North America’s second largest ski area offers terrain suitable for first timers to extreme skiers and everyone in-between while Snowmass’ terrain parks are consistently ranked as some of the best in the country. However there is still plenty to do other than skiing or snowboarding in the winter, other activities include guided snowshoe tours, dog sledding, snowmobiling, fly fishing on the gold medal stretches of the Frying Pan River and hot air balloon rides.
In the summer Snowmass offers cross country and downhill mountain biking with the continued expansion of its biking trail network. The gondola also provides access to miles of hiking, fishing, paintball and rock climbing on Snowmass. Local outfitters can also arrange white water rafting trips, horseback rides, jeep tours and guided fly fishing on either the Roaring Fork or Frying Pan Rivers.
There are free live music concerts every Thursday throughout the summer and a local rodeo provides endless entertainment of the family every Wednesday night. The Mammoth Festival and Jazz Aspen Snowmass Labor Day Concert bring some of the biggest names in the music world to Snowmass every year to be enjoyed in the serene setting of the Rocky Mountains. There are also multiple golf courses in the area, one in Snowmass and another in Aspen.
