This was my second time staying here in the past five years, and I will continue to stay here whenever I visit Assisi. The location is right next to the Basilica of St. Francis, and the views from the Hotel over Umbria are beautiful. The room was very comfortable, and the staff was friendly and helpful.

Hubby and I stayed at Nun Assisi for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it!! We had room #11.....the one with the private terrace!! Even though the weather is a tad chilly in March we still went up there daily and enjoyed the sun rise and sun set. It was just so lovely we really didn't want to leave. The spa facilities are done so tastefully as it is set around an ancient amphitheater. The pool was so relaxing and fun to float around and turn on all the jets! The bed was a nice king size with memory foam and linen/cotton sheets.....pure luxury and so conducive to a great night's sleep. The bathroom was a little cramped but that's OK because it's good to get close!!
The breakfast was superb and really started off the day wonderfully. They would even make omelettes to order!
Overall, I would highly recommend Nun Assisi for anyone who is looking for a relaxing, comfortable stay !

This is a great place to stay if visiting Asissi. The atmosphere is calm and relaxed and we appreciated the helpful staff who could not have done more to make our stay pleasant. The rooms are uncluttered and simple but very comfortable with excellent bathrooms, the whole building retains the atmosphere of the Franciscan monastery, which it was until it was converted into a hotel.

We had a fantastic tour of the ancient city. We arrived around 3:00pm and departed 24 hours later. We enjoyed a wonderful private 1/2 day tour the morning after we arrived with Anne Robichaud, an Ameican who moved to Assis in 1973.

We enjoyed our 2 nights at the Hotel Alexander. It is convenient to sites and restaurants. Breakfast was ample and tasty with the usual pastries, yogurt, meat and cheese, and fruit. Caffe was self serve with several choices. The rooms are modern and clean. We were there just as a medieval festival was beginning so we heard music and voices well into the evening. People were definitely enjoying themselves. With the windows closed, our sleep was not bothered by the celebration and we did not hear other guests mention it. Trash collection the next morning was a jarring wake up (especially all the glass). After that we just heard church bells in the distance and birds cooing. The square is probably very quiet if the festival is not taking place.

"Great hotel with great views, at least in our room"
We stayed 4 nights and 5 days and enjoyed the classic hotel in the center of Assisi, close to the main square, up hill from the Basilican of St. Francis, and close to other important churches, like St. Clare. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast each day. Our room was cleaned everyday, and near a wonderful porch/patio with a view of the valley and hills around.

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Giotto Spa. The staff treated us like we were royalty. They even made a last minute change to the room type to accommodate us. Parking was included! It was very clean. Great location 1/2 way between St. Francis Basilica and the main square. Would stay there again!

We received a very warm welcome when we arrived about an hour before check in time. We were even shown to our room with features pointed out to us, something that rarely happens these days.
The room was newly renovated and very attractive and the bathroom was gorgeous with a huge shower with a rainfall shower head.
Breakfast was very good with a great range of options, and the Umbrian cheese and bread was fantastic. The coffee machine made a slightly weak cappuccino, but it was bearable.
My only complaint would be that the bed was a little too firm for my taste, but my husband really liked it.

This famous place of pilgrimage is the burial site of St Francis, one of the best loved of all Catholic saints. The ambitious basilica built soon after his death and decorated with superb frescoes by Giotto, Lorenzetti, and Martini has been fully restored after a devastating earthquake in 1997. St Clare, Francis’s follower and companion, is buried in a separate church bearing her name.
