Great hotel close to main attractions in AthensPosted Apr 3, 2015
Pros: Location Cleanliness Breakfast Overall quality
Cons: Air conditioning both hot and cold / fans should be provided. We went from the UK and found 18-20 degrees to be hot but the AC(cold) would not work.
Location: All major attractions and shopping, eateries, coffee shops-closeby including buses to the airport and the metro - within walking distance.
Arrived from the airport (X95 bus every 15 min) to Syntagma square, costs 5 euros for adults and half price for children and takes 45 minutes. It is cheaper and quicker than the metro. The hotel has good facilities and our view (from room 506) looked onto the Syntagma and the national gardens - Brilliant!! The hotel is in walking distance to the Acropolis, the national gardens and the temple of Zues. The breakfast is plenty both hot and cold buffet. Take the ticket at the Acropolis for 12 euros for adults (free for children) and included in the price is for other 5-6 attractions. The people are very friendly and most speak English well. We travelled to Aegina island by ferry and is doable in a day. The only slight downside is the fact the hotel could be noisy if you left the window open as it is on a busy road. The city doesn't seem to sleep just like London!! Buses to the airport and the metro are all within walking distance.

Excellent location!Posted Mar 20, 2015
Pros: Nice location, excellent location, large rooms (deluxe), great views
Cons: Wifi was non-existent in the room we stayed in - it disconnected constantly and wouldn't reconnect.
Location: Plaka, National Gardens, Parliament, Monastiraki Square - everything is close by!
Athens was a great experience - hotel was clean, centrally located and in a safe area.

Centrally located, very good hotelPosted Mar 14, 2015
Pros: Renovated and clean rooms.
Cons: Location of the TV in rooms.
Location: Very near Syntagma square, a stone throw's away from almost everything worth seeing in Athens.
The Amalia Hotel is conveniently situated almost across the Parliament of Greece, in Syntagma Square. The hotel was recently renovated and this is obvious the minute you step in your room. The room is beautifully furnished with a comfortable bed with four pillows (two per person), a small table and two chairs, as well as a mirror and a small desk. The only thing I could find that was on thw downside was the placement of the flat screen tv, which is not directly in front of the bed but instead on the left of it. The bathroom was also very clean. The breakfast was good, with hot and cold choices. In general I think the hotel is a very good choice for someone looking for a centrally located accomodation in Athens.

centraal gelegenPosted Feb 28, 2015

I was staying at the Amalia on FebruaryPosted Feb 25, 2015
The rooms were very hot and stuffy. The AC was set to heating and the only way not to sweat was to turn off the wretched heating system. That did not help much and the AC could not be set to cooling mode. The hotel staff recommended opening the window (gee, thanks) but that did not help either. I ended up sweating, took a while to fall asleep. Annoying , very annoying.

TINY BATHROOM,Posted Feb 19, 2015
Cons: THE TINY SHOWER AND BREAKFAST BUFFET
I STAYED AT AMALIA HOTEL ATHENS FOR 6 DAYS, IT WAS A PLEASANT STAY, EVERYTHING WAS GOOD, EXCEPT FOR A VERY TINY SHOWER AREA , IT WAS I THINK MEASURED 16 INCHES BY 16 INCHES ONLY VERY SMALL, YOU CANT BARELY MOVE AROUND, THE BREAKFAST BUFFET WAS ALSO GOOD, BUT FOR THE 6 DAYS THEY ALL THE SAME, THE MENU NEVER CHANGES AT ALL, THE SAME FOOD EVERYDAY.
