The Best Part of our VacationPosted May 17, 2015
Pros: Location! Buffet breakfast in the rooftop garden! Modern hotel/facilities. Very helpful staff. City maps/activities guide readily available.
Cons: Can't think of a thing.
Location: Right in downtown Athens. You can walk to the Acropolis, Plaka, Acropolis Museum, Syntagma Square, Temple of Olympian Zeus and more.
We received first class treatment at this hotel. Everything was wonderful; staff was friendly, respectful, helpful; the room was great--down to the comfy beds! Location is absolutely the best, with many of the "tourist" spots within walking distance, and just two short blocks to the Metro. Breakfast at the rooftop garden with a 360-degree of Athens that is breathtaking. Who could ask for more?

The perfect hotel in the perfect positionPosted May 17, 2015
Pros: Rooftop restaurant and decent size rooms
Cons: Lifts could be bigger
Location: Minutes from the Acropolis metro station and Acropolis museum, right on edge of the old town and easy walk to Acropolis site. Could not be a better.
I picked this hotel because it was convenient for the metro from the airport, was close to the old town and the Acropolis and boasted a dramatic roof garden restaurant. Its all true, five minutes from Acropolis metro station and in the middle of everything with the Acropolis museum round the corner. The restaurant where we had breakfast outside goes three ways round the hotel and we always managed to have a table either overlooking the Temple of Zeus or the Acropolis itself glowing in the golden sunshine. It was the finest view we had of the site all the time we were there and was a magnificent start to every day. Oh and the massive array of hot and cold food was much and varied. We were on the fourth floor overlooking an office building and I don't know how noisy the Zeus side with the main road or the Acropolis side with the restaurant would be but we were fine and by some amazing quirk of the reflective windows in the office building we had views all around including the Temple! Cleaning was great, all staff were attentive but not fussy, we always got a polite 'hello' when we arrived back and no questions about our bags of food and drink. Only possible criticism I suppose would be that the lifts were a bit overworked. Two very small ones for 8 floor 99 room hotel sometimes had difficulty coping but all in all magnificent place to stay in Athens.

This place is perfect! Great room. Great service. Great location for Parthenon with the most amazing view from the rooftop restaurant where you will take in your free breakfast buffet. If I ever get back to Athens I will stay at the athens gate hotel again!

Great Location - Amazing ViewsPosted May 14, 2015
I highly recommend Athens Gate Hotel for its location and fabulous views of the Temple of Zeus and the Acropolis. The views from the rooftop bar/restaurant are amazing. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The staff were very helpful and efficient. The Temple of Zeus is directly across the street and the Acropolis and the museum are a short walk up the hill. There is a nice shopping area with many restaurants a couple of blocks away. The Hop on/off bus stops very near to the hotel. The rooms on the front have great views but there is a lot of traffic noise from the street below. The rooms on the back are very quiet and a few have great views of the Acropolis.

Absolutely the best hotel to stay at in AthensPosted May 14, 2015
Pros: Everything. Staff. Location. And the roof top restaurant
Cons: Maybe make the elevator operation a bit more user friendly. Put 2 bars of soap in the washrooms and have a location for the soap in the shower
Location: Conveniently close to any Athens attractions you might want to visit such the Acropolis, the new Acropolis Museum or The Temple of Zeus
Exceptionally nice facility with a friendly and courteous staff.

Excellent location, outstanding terrace viewPosted May 13, 2015
Pros: location, room is good
Cons: rooms overlooking the main road should have isolation from noise.
excellent location and near to major attractive places. rooms are good. the only major concern I had was related to the room. I reserved a prime room with view to Zeus temple. The view was good but unfortunately the noise from the main road was terrible and could not sleep.

Great locationPosted May 9, 2015
Pros: The great location, rooftop restaurant (and views) and very helpful/pleasant staff.
Cons: The air conditioning!
Location: Excellent location for many famous sites/museums with a number on your doorstep and others very close by.
Perfect for sight seeing with many historical/cultural sights and venues very close by. Well placed for eating out, shopping and transport. The Athens Gate has unparalleled views of the Acropolis and the Olympieion Temple of Zeus. With temperatures of 26c to 30c in early May the seemingly erratic air conditioning made the room less than comfortable particularly as opening the balcony doors was undesirable for long periods because of the traffic noise and pollution from the road below. We wondered how uncomfortable it would be in the summer heat of 30 - 40c!

Very nice hotel in a central locationPosted May 9, 2015
Pros: The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was comfortable and the view of the temple of Olympian Zeus made for a good start to the day.
Location: Very close to the Acropolis and other sights. Temple of Olympian Zeus is across the road.
The hotel was in a very good central location within easy walking distance of the Acropolis and other sights. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The breakfast in the roof top restaurant was very good with plenty of variety. The views from the restaurant were great. I can recommend a half day trip to the temple of Poseidon at Cape Sounion (about 60 - 75 minutes by coach).
