“Rooms with a view and a relaxing vibe”

Though located about two miles from the main town and half a mile from the beach, this excellent hotel's very advantage is that it is far from the madding crowd. Our room had a balcony with an ocean view, beckoning us to relax with glasses of chilled ouzo (the rooms have refrigerators). The staff is attentive; the breakfasts are bountiful; the overall hotel experience was the best we had on this trip -- and there was some stiff competition.

“Pleasant but not near the airport”

THe Avra is a very pleasant hotel near the port in an interesting neighborhood. At night I did not think the bus would come and had to take a taxi for 30 Euros! But, in the morning, the bus was easy and pleasant and only 3 Euros. It is NOT near the airport but very convenient for ferries. If you go during the day and can get the bus from the airport it is very fine.

“Stopover for connecting flight”

We stayed here because we had a connecting flight the next day. The bus from Athens airport to Rafina stopped right outside the hotel - very convenient. It took 35 mins to Rafina and 30 back to airport. The hotel room was very comfortable and clean. The only contact we had with staff was checking in and at breakfast the next morning so, from that we found them friendly and helpful. Breakfast was buffet style and covered a variety of choices - I don' t think anybody could complain about the choice. It was our frist stay in Rafina and we will be staying there in September as we have another stopover. The only thing I would say is that the bus service could be a bit more frequent (we arrived at Athens airport at 6pm and had to wait until 7.30pm for the next bus) but, other than that everything was very satisfactory.

“Avra - Central place to stay”

Was very satisfied when we stayed in June 2011 and this time in September except for the breakfast which was supposed to be served until 10am. We arrived at breakfast just before 9.30 and there was hardly anything left and no attempt to replenish anything when we got there. The waitress kept turning off the toast machine so it took ages to get any toast as well. the kitchen staff were sitting in the dining area and appeared to have finished for the morning.

“Excellent location and wonderful view from room.”

On arrival more explanation of door entry and electricity system required. Did not know how card worked and was not explained at reception. Towels were not supplied so for an overnight stay difficult to freshen up. Overall impression of hotel was very good with helpful staff and excellent buffet breakfast. Woule recommend for overnight stay when traveling to and from the airport.

“Good Jumping Off Point to the Islands”

There aren't many hotels in Rafina - I think I only saw one other place which was across the street and the others I saw were just like B&B's or Rooms to Let places. The hotel itself has nice curb appeal, the staff was friendly and helpful, spoke english too. We were leaving for Mykonos the following morning and Rafina has the most number of boats that go to that side of the Greek Islands. The day we were there it was very windy and our high speed ferry got cancelled but very quickly we were refunded our money for the tickets and booked onto another. We had a room up on the 4th floor facing the ocean and it included continental breakfast. I would stay here again but only very short term.

Perfect location for those who need to catch an early morning ferry. Breakfast could be improved.

“Don't go during the strikes....”

The hotel itself was good, a little dated, but clean, good restaurant and reasonably priced. Rooms are smallish, as are most rooms in europe, with the queen bed made up of two singles put together. Ocean view balconies were nice. I would definitely return to this hotel if catching the ferries to ports south as the port is a couple minute walk from the hotel! The hotel advertises a limo/town car service which was not available to us - not sure if this was because of strikes or just not in service in the wee hours of the morning for transferred to the airport. The distance to airport is stated at approximately 10 km but that must be as the crow flies as the actual distance was much longer - about 30 minutes on freeway at 3:00 am. Also, Because of the strikes in Athens while we were there, the hotel had to arrange private cars and it cost us 50 Euro for transport to get there!

“Convenient situation”

The hotel was modern and comfortable and although the room was small, it was adequate for a night's stopover. It was very convenient for the ferry terminal and also for the direct airport bus(only 3 euros each).The buffet breakfast was good and all the staff very helpful.
