Bathroom needs some help. Ours had a dingy shower curtain that was clearly dirty from soaking in water. The staff were helpful but not friendly. My husband tried to engage them on several occasions but was rebuffed with scowls it very curt answers, even the ones that spoke fluent English.

Dried blood of the back of the cover, stains on the chairs and all over the carpet and even on the shower floor, horrible smell, wilted apples at breakfast.. like out of a horror movie.

Booked three different time periods for a total five nights. It was not an experience that I'd want to go through again. The rooms were very small and cramped, and none of the TV worked in the 5 different rooms that we stayed. Bathrooms are terribly small. Small is ok, but the shower stalls did not even have proper shower curtains. So, the bathrooms became a mess once you have used them. It is not a good place to stay.

Does the job
Stayed here for two nights, and was overall happy with my experience. The room was spacious and clean, and the balcony had a great view of the Acropolis. Seemed to be located in a bit of a dodgy area, but we ha did no incidents while walking around the streets. Within easy walking distance of the Archeological Museum. Popular tourist spots like the Acropolis were quite a long walk away but were doable. Overall a pleasant experience.

Good location
Good location of hotel, close of metro station and from train station, staff was unfriendly and at times rude. Breakfast was fine and worth for money. Area is just OK, not recommend to someone with family but fine if you are alone. Overall clean hotel but can be improved.

The Good: It's cheap, and right by both the subway and Athens Central Railway for easy access to the airport and anywhere in the city. The Bad: WiFi didn't really work in the rooms, furniture was dingy, and calling the breakfast "horrendous" would be a compliment, although it was included in the price. You get what you pay for. Decent value for the money.

Good place for a couple of nights
If you are looking for a cheap hotel, this is the hotel for you. Very small elevator. Breakfast is good enough. 10 min walk to the archaeological museum. Costs 5 euros by taxi to Syntagma square. Being outside the central city, costs 44 euros to get to Airport. CHAT tours has pickup and dropoff, so works out great.

Needing serious improvement
The hotel needs work - shower and ac barely worked, elevator too tiny, breakfast very unappetizing, with watery juice and coffee bad by any standard. Location is good, easy neighborhood walk to Museum. Staff tried.

Great view of Mt. Lycabettus
Had a nice view from the 7th floor, great street market close by, close to the archaeological museum but a difficult walk into Central Athens. Bathroom was cramped and had gnats in the shower curtain.

perfectly budget
The hotel isn't very modern, with very few outlets and outdated equipment and the location is a bit grimy. The beds are comfortable enough and the lobby is very pretty, though. For the price, it's decent enough.

Basic
A basic hotel I guess fair for a low budget. The pool is very nice although in the end we did not get to use it. The toilet flush button got stuck. No shower curtain either so whole bathroom was getting soaked. Other than that was ok for the money we paid.

Good for a night when spending a day seeing Athens
We were barely in the hotel, so can't comment too much. Check in was simple with helpful staff. We came here because it was cheap, and not too far from the Acropolis. We had to phone reception to get our air conditioning to work, but within seconds they reset it/turned it on/did something to make it work.

The stay at the hotel was overall good. The hotel is old but is clean and the price of it is very reasonable for what it offers. If you need a cheap hotel, near a metro/train station to spend your holidays in Athens then its a good choice.

Close to most sites but questionable area
The hotel is somewhat dated and located in a bad part of town. The staff was nice and I recommend the breakfast option when booking. The shower was very small with a curtain that would cling to you no matter how you tried to avoid it. Since there was a drain in the bathroom, I would just shower without the curtain. Even when using the curtain getting water on the floor was unavoidable. Considering the age of the building and how dated things looks, there was a sense that the place was well maintained/clean.

Worst hotel of our trip
The rooms smelled like smoke, were smaller than anywhere else we stayed. The neighboorhood was sketchy and inconvenient, you couldn't walk anywhere from here. Then the hotel overbooked and we had to go to another hotel for our last two nights. Which hotels.com helped arrange, not the hotel which was absolutely no help to us.

Worth the price we paid!
Omonia as a location might not be ideal for many travellers, but me and my friends did not mind the little bit "dodgy" neighborhood. Hotel itself was a pleasant surprise. Comfortable beds and clean bathroom.

Okay hotel but in a questionable area
The hotel had an excellent breakfast and friendly cleaning staff. The front desk staff were courteous, but not very helpful. The hotel is dated and room was quite cramped (though traveling alone!), and wifi was not throughout the hotel as promised online. The location was not ideal for those who want to sightsee and the neighborhood did not feel very safe.

Affordable but not for a long stay
Balasca was exactly what we expected based on the reviews and price. The location wasn't fantastic, but not far away from major sights by metro. You get what you pay for and the hotel was pretty clean.

Clean but small superior room
Didn't like the location and surrounding neighbourhood. No water or tea/coffee making facilities provided in room. Breakfast was good but one had to eat yogurt and cereal with a teaspoon! Very small old-style TV in room. Also the aircon. was periodically turned off at managers' discretion..Public areas in the hotel were spacious and well-kept.

This hotel was not well kept at all and the neighborhood has to be one of they sketchiest ones in Athens. The rooms were extremely small and not very clean. Did not enjoy this hotel at all.

one night stay in Balasca Hotel
I had a problem with the breakfast. They said breakfast is not included although in a three star hotel one may think is part of the comfort. However, I think it should be better if in every offer it should be mentioned with or without breakfast included!

Helpful staff, ok hotel, but not so good location
Even as hotel Balasca's staff strive into an excellent service (specially the lady repeptionist) and the hotel is located not far from important attractions; the surrounding neighborhood is not safe. We were told so by people at the metro, policemen and even the staff of the hotel. Walking around the hotel you see immigrants from many countries who simply stare at you and make you feel a little nervous.

Basic but comfortable
The hotel is basic but good enough for a short stay. It is not far from Omonia Square (approx 10 minutes) and approx 30minutes walking to the Acropolis. The reception staff was kind enough to coordinate sharing taxis to the airport with other hotel guests when the metro and buses were on strike
