We had fun; great for children!

Posted Apr 4, 2014
Pros: A swimming pool was key in our search for where to stay and my children loved it! The hot tub (room for 8-10 people) was a nice surprise!
Cons: Friendliness of staff- not bad but not the warmest people.
Location: Athens is a college town. We have friends there and used to live there. Good locally owned restaurants-ask around! Anything you need close by.
We reserved a room as a mini vacation while my daughter was on spring break. Our goals were to visit with friends in the area and relax by the pool. We did just that! Hotel staff was great about meeting needs and providing us with anything we asked for, though they weren't the friendliest individuals I've ever encountered. I could tell they weren't used to accommodating for children as they had one high chair available during breakfast and one staff member made the comment, "Wow, there are a lot of kids here today!" However, they didn't seem to mind cleaning up after my three (ages 2, 4 and 6)... too much. My children had a blast in the pool and hot tub, both in good condition. The pool was a little cool, as was the air temp in the pool room. However, the controls were able to be accessed by guests. I turned the temp up on all four heaters from 74 degrees to 82 one evening and when we returned in the morning to swim there was a pleasant and noticeable difference. Pool was slightly cool still, though. Overall, a nice stay and exactly what we wanted. We will not hesitate to stay again!

NIce Hotel priced well

Posted Mar 29, 2014
Pros: Convient room access, comfortable rooms and reasonably priced
Cons: More options with the breakfast
Location: Bob Evans right next door and many resturants within 1 mile as well as several stores.
The only problem I found was the strong cigarette smell in the hallways when entering the hotel

Disappointing

Needed a room close to ohio university and like to stay in "name brand"hotels. This hotel was run down, dated decor, looked and smelled old, and not worth the money paid. Will not stay here again.

Simple, but ok.

Pros: The location was great. Also, my room was exceptionally large and quiet.
Cons: The rug in my room could have used some cleaning as well as the upholstery. Both were quite filthy.
Location: An array of stores and restaurants are very close by, almost in walking distance.
I traveled with a large group of mostly female students who were attending a conference at Ohio University. After we left, some female students reported an unpleasant incident to me that in my estimate requires more training of the staff by management: While enjoying the hotel's Jacuzzi one evening, a handful of female students were photographed against their will and despite their protest by one or two older male guests from the hotel, presumably construction workers. Despite their protest to the front desk, there was no intervention done by the staff. I did not personally witness the incident, and I explained to the female students that there was in fact no expectation of privacy. But still, who would not be bothered by that?

Convenient location, clean, friendly staff.

Cons: Halls ways could be cleaner or carpet updated - rooms were fine.
We were in for a family funeral, the rooms were fine and the staff very friendly - continental breakfast convenient. Available parking near rooms and felt security was good.

A little bit peeved

Posted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Good location & reasonably priced.
Cons: Customer service....could've been more accomodating/personable.
Location: Ohio University!
I booked this room months ago and the only request I had was to please be near lobby/pool. When given directions to room I told them that I had requested a room near lobby and first floor if possible, they said that this is the one Expedia gave me. Said all other rooms were booked! After going to the complete "other end" of hotel and then up the stairs, I called them and said I don't think they could've put us FURTHER away! Happy that my son graduates this year from Ohio Univ so I don't have to deal with them anymore.

Haven't seen a TV this old in years.

My husband and I visited our son at college. We had seen the outside of this hotel so we decided to stay there. Well, the people upstairs were jumping on their floor for hours. My husband even went upstairs to see how it could be so loud every time they walked across the floor and said that the hallway seemed "loose and spongy" so it probably was just going to be loud. Then we wanted to watch the Olympics but the TV was o-l-d! No flat screen here folks! We could hardly read the scores.. I would say the hotel tries to be decent but it was disappointing.

Disappointed

Posted Feb 10, 2014
Pros: The size of room and bathroom.
Cons: Sound proofing of walls against noise. I thought I was in a frat house not a hotel over a hundred dollars a night.
Location: Near Ohio University campus, movie theatre, small mall, and sport store.
The room was clean and neat but the bed was uncomfortable. The bathroom was really spacious for individuals with handicaps and clean. The walls are thin and I did not sleep well due to running in hallways and people stomping around over head. I called the front desk to ask them to encourage others to reduce their loud behavior in hallways at two in the morning. I had to work the next morning early. Someone banged on my door at three in the morning and talked loudly in the hall. I would not recommend this hotel to others.
