“Stayed here before”

We've stayed here before, and will plan on staying again. Across from famous Varsity restaraunt. Great continental breakfast including waffles.

“Great hotel for the money - conveniently located.”

Best Western Colonial Inn is a great hotel for the money. Close to UGA and downtown Athens. Well maintained - feels safe.

“Good”

The hotel itself was clean and comfortable, but it would have been nice to know that the access to the upstairs rooms were on an open patio. My mom has vertigo, and didn't like that she had to climb the open stairway. They also charged us extra to get a non-smoking room--even though on Expedia it said there were none available. The people staying there were kind of noisy at night, but that wasn't something the hotel could really control. Overall, though, the place was nice, and within a really quick drive from the downtown area (particularly the University of Georgia). It wasn't extravagant, but if your looking for a nice place to sleep for a couple of days while in Athens, this worked out quite well. It was a little hard to get to when coming south on I-75, because mapquest didn't specify which exit was the one to go. The roads have so many names, and split off so many times, that finding the correct road it was on was difficult.

“Will stay here again!!”

Great customer service--Carla was awesome to deal with when making reservations. We went to Athens for the MSU/GA football game and enjoyed staying here--the rooms are a good value for regular night rates!

“An OK place at a reasonable price”

I have stayed at this hotel twice while in Athens. It often has very competitive room rates. The rooms are reasonably attractive, well kept, and comfortable. Its easy to find, and they do include a continental breakfast which is better than some. Only complaint about room is the shower was very slow to drain on the 2 occasions I have stayed there.Both times I have stayed there I checked in to discover they had booked large groups of noisy guests. The first time was for a dog show and the place was full of dogs. The most recent time, we were warned that they had booked 10 rooms to a band who was playing in town and they were probably going to be rowdy and we should just try to be understanding. If the hotel is going to book groups they know could be disruptive to other guests, they should really make a better effort to prevent that. Luckily, the group wasn't disruptive. It did not seem as though management planned to do anything if they had been. Other than that, the hotel is not too far from downtown restaurants and clubs and an ok place for a night or two.

“Not bad, but not wonderful either”

As far as I can tell, you're only going to get a really good hotel in Athens if you pay a fortune. On that basis, this hotel isn't bad value-for-money: it's generally clean and comfortable, has a passable free breakfast, and served me reliably for the three nights I was there. However, it's nowhere near perfect. The biggest problem is that it's really a motel, so the rooms are clustered around a central car park / parking lot. Because the parking area has a steep hill to exit, every night I was there I was woken by cars revving their engines in the early hours outside my room. You'll also want to be aware of the location of this hotel. Although on the map it looks like it's under a mile from central Athens, and therefore walkable if you want to go have a drink and not have to worry about driving back (like you really should, of course), that walk back is actually up a really nasty steep hill, and is not fun in the early hours. Most places this wouldn't be a problem, but let's face it: if your trip to Athens doesn't involve drinking at some stage (either for the football or out in one of the bars - it's a college town, after all), why on earth are you there in the first place?! In the long run, though, chances are that you're better off staying here and then paying for a taxi. So this isn't the lap of luxury, but it wasn't bad in any major way either, and you could pay a lot more for a lot worse.

“Older Hotel, but clean”

I was suprised when I arrived and it was one of those hotels that you enter your room from the parking lot. It was clean and the staff was good. Average breakfast with a very nice girl who makes the waffels for you.

“Never Going Back!”

I was extremely dissapointed with the fact we paid extra for the upgraded whirlpool suite and the tub did not work and they refused to give me a credit for the difference of a regular room for the 2 night stay. I will not go back!!!!
