Football Trip

Posted Oct 24, 2013
Pros: Close to destination, cleanliness.
The hotel in Winder provided a very comfortable stay after we had driver 12 hours to watch our grandson play football, so after the game we relaxed in a clean, comfy room!

Problems and Disappointment

Posted Oct 22, 2013
Pros: Nothing.
Cons: Tear the building down and build a new hotel away from the railroad tracks and with an elevator. Keep smokers out of the non-smoking rooms.
Location: The location stinks because it's near railroad tracks. The town of Winder is small and just about everything is closed early each day.
I arrived in the morning and the person at the desk wouldn't allow me to check in early and wouldn't store my suitcase until I came back to check in later that evening. When I arrived in the evening I was told I got there too late, my room was not guaranteed with a credit card, and they therefore gave my room to someone else. In reality, my room was not only guaranteed with a credit card, the entire reservation was paid for months ago! The person behind the desk managed to find a room for me even though they were "sold out" but it was on the second floor and the furthest from the stair case. I had a lot of heavy equipment that had to be carried up and down the stairs each day so that was a big burden. The air conditioning kept shutting itself off and when I complained about this the clerk said it's because of the position of the air conditioner relative to the curtains and there's nothing that can be done. The Internet couldn't be accessed from my room so when I needed to connect I had to sit in the lobby. Making matters worse, my "non-smoking" room smelled from smoke. The hotel's solution to that was a can of air freshener, which of course was not a solution at all. And finally, the hotel is extremely close to railroad tracks and very loud train whistles blow several times throughout the night.

Room without any kind ov view.

We were on the first floor and when you looked out the window there was a 6 foot old privacy fence within two feet of our window. The toilet was not completely bolted down. We asked for more towels are were told they did not have any clean at the moment. Besides that the bed was comfortable and room was clean.
