More than what I expected

Posted Dec 26, 2014
Pros: Overall, the interior design and decoration. It´s wonderful to feel in a traditional architecture with contemporary decor within
Cons: Nothing comes to my mind
Location: It´s close to the university campus if any activity is planned there, and also to the nice downtown area where you find most bars, restaurants, etc.
I had to attend my goddaughter`s graduation at UGA, a bit late to get a room on the hotel across the street from Stegeman auditorium, I found a room online on 'the graduate'. Expecting a clean, quiet place to rest, shower and change for the ceremony, 'the graduate' exceeded my expectations by far. I loved the cleanliness of the room, the interior decoration, the updated overall interior design and facilities. I particularly loved the free wi-fi, which days before I didn´t get on the Ritz-Carlton in Reynolds Plantation . I mention this because even in the Ritz as in other hotels you have the feeling that they´re trying to get as much money possible from you. Not the case in 'the graduate', one feels the first priority of the host is the guests, which make us guests feel welcome to have a good experience, and not only to 'spend' money. Thanks! will definitely recommend the graduate and come back myself when visiting Athens

Not your standard hotel!

Posted Dec 20, 2014
Pros: Clean, bright and friendly rooms. Staff was very accommodating. Short distance to everything.
Cons: Complementary breakfast would be great!
I love this hotel! The staff was very accommodating. The rooms were fun and a bit "kitchy". It has a college motif which brought back great memories. We did not get a chance to experience the dining or entertainment (our busy schedule), but heard it was all very good. I will definitely return when when schedule allows. Thanks Graduate for making our stay a very enjoyable experience!

Fantastic Hotel in a fantastic location

Posted Nov 6, 2014
Pros: Everything was new.
Cons: nothing
Location: Excellent location, near to all bars and restaurants
We loved the hotel, only just opened after a massive refurbishment. Rooms were large and very comfortable. The bed and pillows were to die for. Very friendly receptionist and very helpful, advising us the best places to eat. 5 bar was really good, food was wonderful.

Price Change in the Middle of a Stay?

Posted Oct 23, 2014 on Hotels.com
When I booked my stay at Graduate, Athens, it was still called The Foundry. It had been recommended by several friends. When I arrived, I discovered that it had been bought out, and changes were being implemented. No problem. The evening employees were helpful, and I had no questions for the daytime employees. I went off to my conference, came back, and my room had been cleaned. On my day of check out, I went to the desk and was presented with a bill that I didn't understand. Apparently, while I stayed in this hotel, they changed my rates! The first night was the price I had been guaranteed, but the second night's cost was $10 more! When I asked for an explanation, the clerk told me it was because they were busier the second night. I told him that I had booked through Hotels.com, and he told me that it was the policy of the owners. What?!? I have never experienced that before and thought it to be unethical. I would not recommend this hotel, nor would I stay there again.
