Easy city stopoverPosted Sep 11, 2012 on Hotels.com
This hotel is in an excellent location right beside a metro station and 1 stop from the old part of the city's restaurants etc. The hotel could do with some modernisation but this is reflected in the cheap prices. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. We found it comfortable, clean and quiet so overall with the cheap price, perfect for our short visit. Have rebooked for our last night.

Location: good location close to subway
It was quite a good setup double room fitted 5 people. Unfortunately a power failure so no airconditioning or lift to the 5th floor for a number of hours. Staff very accommodating however.

Could have done betterPosted Aug 1, 2011
As we found out there are many hotels available in Athens but this one looked good on the net. We were disappointed. The rooms were very old and not very clean. The floor we were on was not even lit up and we had to ask for them to turn on the lights. the internet access was poor but got better if you sat on the stairs near the wifi. The breakfast buffet was very average. The lift to the floors was like one from the old balck and white movies. The location, well the taxi driver dropped us and warned to be careful at night around there. We were not night owls but did see the change when returning to the hotel in the evening. I guess the conditions had a lot to do with the economic crisis there but we were later informed we could have done better for our buck.

Wake up unhappy at Hotel Ilion in Athens GreecePosted Jul 29, 2011 on Hotels.com
If You need a low budget old noisy bad hotel in the center of town. With aircondition that laeks water, a noisy refrigriator, poor breakfast and unsafe doors, stone hard beds - then you could visit this hotel and wake up UNhappy. My suggestion is - Stay away.

Not ImpressedPosted May 24, 2011
My first review. first of all I have to say the hotel was clean, the staff was semi friendly. My dislikes were: I asked for a non smoking room, but every including their grandmother must have been smoking in that hotel. Every night the smoke just poured into the room from the cracks and under the door. I even put a towel at the door, but that didn't work. I highly suggest that if you're a non smoker like me, I'd pay the extra $$ to sleep comfortably at nite.

recommended for low budget tripPosted May 23, 2011 on Hotels.com
I booked this hotel for 3 nights and then for another 4 nights. Of course the hotel is not any Hilton, but for the money I paid I was really satisfied. Room was clean, aircon a little noisy but working well, everyday I found the room cleaned up. Staff was helpful and friendly. Only the internet needs to speed up a little. Sometimes, when the hotel was busy, I could not connect to a network. So, if the inet connection is one of your necessary things you need, then you should call the hotel and ask them if they did something with that. The area around the hotel is not the best of Athens, but definitely it is not as bad as I could read in some other reviews. When I was coming back to hotel late night, I always chose the main street and I felt safe. On top of that, the hotel is just 1!! minute walk from metro. Sometimes, when I saw a group of immigrants, I just walked a bit around. So I just simply can't write any horrifying experience like some others. For low budget trip, I can only recommend it!!
