Nice hotel with excellent servicePosted Mar 15, 2014
Very comfortable room with relaxing spa tub, super friendly staff who were more than helpful. Cleaning crew were thorough and even came back to make sure we were happy. Breakfast package is a must with excellent choice and quality of food. Next time we will visit when the roof top pool and restaurant are in season, but we were very happy with the cafe and room service options. We don't have a single bad thing to say about this hotel, we will go back and will recommend it to friends.

Outstanding viewPosted Jan 20, 2014
Pros: The view!
Cons: Lighting from the subway stop to the hotel.
The hotel is a very nice facility. The rooms are reasonably spacious and very clean. The breakfast is excellent and highly recommended (great service too!). The best feature of the hotel is however the rooftop pool. Not only was a great respite from the heat in late July, when we were there, but it offers a fantastic view of Athens. Especially the Parthenon!! The hotel offers dinner around the pool, so that they close the pool itself relatively early. Even if you do not have dinner, I highly recommend you come up and take the view in the evening when the all the lights are on. It is truly an outstanding view. The only feature of the hotel we did not like was its location. The hotel is conveniently close to a subway stop (about 2 blocks away) and during the day one can easily walk to the Plaka after an interesting 10-15min walk. However, in the evening those two blocks are poorly lit and the 5min walk becomes quite unsettling. We did walk through that a couple of evenings, but quickly decided to take a taxi whenever we arrived late just to avoid that feeling.

This is THE Hotel to stay in while in AthensPosted Nov 20, 2013
Pros: Location / cleanliness / amenities / food / staff
Cons: ALL Amenities working - Steam Room not working and Pool was closed when we were there
Location: Everything is accessible from this location - on foot - could not have been better. Sorry no pictures of the hotel - their site is good for room pics
Everything about this hotel was good = food, rooms, and facilities, however we were there at the beginning of November and they do close down the pool and some other amenities because this is off season. The front desk staff bent over backwards to help us - from suggesting restaurants to arranging tours, plus lending us an umbrella when it was raining out. The area around the hotel left a little bit to be desired however it is right down town Athens and lets face it - it is a big city. Syntagma Square was a short walk and Plaka District (oldest part of Athens) was also a short walk. We even had a straight walk from the hotel to the Acropolis. We purchased the "Level" experience so as not to have to pay for internet, breakfast and other things separately - well worth it with an upgraded room and a little more space = well worth the price. We stayed there 10 nights hence this review is written with experience of multiple nights and with some credibility. We were there to run the marathon on November 10th 2013. Being from Canada, the 20+ temperatures were balmy however most of the locals were bundled up in parkas! It would have been nice to have the roof top pool open and the steam room working The breakfast each day left nothing to be desired and the cafe off the comfortable lobby was great if we did not want to go out. Lots of places to eat close by as well. Enjoy if you go to Athens - don't be afraid to book this hotel

The eye of the stormPosted Nov 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
The hotel staff was great. Breakfast was terrible, the rooftop garden was charming, the hamman was great, the rooms were clean and the bathtub/shower were pretty decent. We slept pretty well, thought the cafe mondo next door was pretty convenient and the cab service outside was also very convenient. However, the surrounding area, while closer to the city center than it appears, at first glance were a little gritty.

Great hotel, location just okPosted Oct 11, 2013
Cons: I'd give guests another option for dining after 8 pm besides outside by the pool. It was a bit windy for me one night.
Location: Nothing to do around (that I know of)
We got a lot of help from the staff on a variety of requests. They go above and beyond! The hotel even has a bank right across he street, but the area wasn't optimal for us. We had to walk about 5 minutes to the subway everyday and I wouldn't recommend anyone walking at night around there. Otherwise it was very pleasant. Oh one more thing, the shower is not the best designed one I've ever been in. It was a little higher than what I'm used to.

close to city centerPosted Oct 9, 2013
Pros: I was very impressed with cleaniness and quality of the room.
Cons: Only draw back, the view of the acropolis from the pool bar is ruined by ugly buildings around it.
Location: a close walk to the sites! liked the location!
We got upgraded because there were no standard rooms.

For a 4 star this hotel had extremely dirty rugs in room, they need a very good shampoo. Otherwise room was very nice great bathroom and bed. Before booking I noticed people complain about the neighbourhood. To me this neighbourhood is what all of Athens looks like felt safe yes it's dirty but try finding a part of Athens that isn't run down. I found the location great we walked to all the major sites didn't use the metro, but metro is less then a 5 min walk if u need one.

Beautiful and Modern HotelPosted Oct 3, 2013
Pros: Roof top restaurant
Cons: They should add more tables to the roof top as you always needed to wait so make a reservation first!
We were only supposed to stay one night after 2 weeks of island hopping but as fate would have it I was pick pocketed on the subway between the port and the hotel. Lost our passports, credit cards, cash .... Only discovered it trying to check in (never felt a thing, 2 pockets picked clean). The gentleman at the front desk (I wish I took his name) was incredibly helpful dialing Amex, Visa, and Air Canada for me to cancel cards and our flight reservations. As it took a couple of days to arrange new travel plans and documents we spent more time at the hotel then expected. The rooms are very modern, well laid out, and comfortable. The roof top bar/restaurant is very nice and I thought fairly priced considering the class of hotel and the roof top location. Yes, breakfast is overpriced. As for the in room internet, due to our circumstances they were kind enough to give it to us at no charge. I'd definitely recommend the Melia to anyone visiting Athens and considering the room rate for what you get, I can live with the expensive breakfast (there are plenty of coffee shops nearby, even one attached to the front lobby if you prefer).
