Old basic hotel in good locationPosted Nov 3, 2014
Pros: its location
Cons: If the hotel can be renovated, i would recommend it to my family or friends due to its location.
Location: very near to the shopping streets and quite near to Syntagma metro.
We chosen this hotel because it is recommended by a travel book and it is within my budget. It has a great location but the hotel is too old, not very comfortable with the bed and the breakfast is disappointed.

Location, Location, Location..is what you pay for!Posted Oct 23, 2014
This hotel is wonderfully located in the heart of the Plaka area of Athens, but, alas! - this Greek Doyenne is not aging gracefully. My room, situated adlacent to the elevator, was sensitive to every creak and groan of said contraption, so request one down the hall. I'd requested a queen-size bed, but was given one with two twins (The res hadn't come down the pipe from Expedia at that moment). Good hot water/pressure, plumbing at sink needs attention...this building could be so very lovely! It has a handsome, curving marble staircase and the dining area has large windows overlooking the lane outside. Breakfast was Greek Traditional: amazing yogurt, Greek honey, assorted baked goods, fruit, juice and coffee, all included. Perhaps I could have found a better rate, had I been able to book farther ahead, instead of on the ferry from Santorini. As it was I felt the venue more a two-star in a five-star area.

very friendly staff but not ideal locationPosted Aug 15, 2014
Pros: Clean but the shower was a problem. Had to keep putting towels on the floor as it kept getting flooded.
Cons: Shower big time. Everything else was fine
Location: Was near to all the touristic sites. Acropolis Houses of parliament Museum of Acropolis
wonderful and helpful staff but location near all the restaurants. was constantly being pestered by the restaurant staff to come and eat at their restaurant , it did not matter the time of day or night. Will always go back to Athens but not to Nefeli. Sorry!!!!

Excellent Location, Great Value for MoneyPosted Jul 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
The best thing about this hotel is definitely the location. It's a short walk from the major sites and only two small blocks from one of the lovely pedestrian streets in Athens. It's also a really short walk to Monasteraki and Sytagma Squares. I took the bus that brings you from the airport to Sytagma and was concerned about arriving at such a late hour (past midnight), but the walk was short and the area still buzzing with activity. It felt so safe I dropped off my bag and ventured out again for a stroll. The breakfast and rooms are basic, with the only downside being that it's impossible to avoid getting the bathroom soaked when showering, but it's a great budget hotel, in an amazing location and I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommended!

Affordable in My Favorite NeighborhoodPosted Jul 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
Staff was mostly very friendly and helpful. Like many people who work in Athens, folks feel pinched by the recently doubled taxes and the country's economic and political turmoil. Throughout Greece you get a feel for who takes pride in their job no matter how tough times are. Nefelli was a good host. They did not try to add on charges or exaggerate what they offer, which some hotels do. The breakfast is a bit scant: a basket of bread, one hard-boiled egg (cold), and juice, but really great coffee. This trip i stayed in nine different overnights, and this breakfast is very typical. Greek hotel owners would do well to ask tourists what they actually like to eat for breakfast. Often you get this feeling that if you don't like it, don't eat it. But I would go to Nefelli again. It was close to the Metro and in Plaka.

Close to all sites by walkingPosted Jul 26, 2014
We never used the metro or buses, we were able to walk to all the major sites from here. Breakfast was good. A good budget place to stay.

The bathrooms smelled so bad but the rooms were ok. Staff was super nice and the hotel was in a good location for tourists but was difficult to find.

A good, budget friendly base for exploring Athens. Walking distance to all major attractions and block or so from a square full of restaurants, shops, pharmacy, atms. Standard European budget hotel hard beds and small shower. Clean enough for this clean freak, but I noticed some stains in the deep bottom of the toilet that made me wonder how clean everything really was. There is no duvet or other type of blanket given, just a top sheet. The breakfast was large and enough to keep me full until a late lunch.

OVERNIGHT IN THE PLAKA AREAPosted Jun 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
This hotel was about what I expected, good basic clean hotel in the Plaka area. Price was so low, though, that the Husband thought it would be a dive. Not so. Yes, the elevator is a bit small and old. Yes, the room is basic and small too. But it served our needs, saved a few bucks, and the breakfast was delicious. Hotel clerk got us a cab in the morning that was a fair price, despite warnings that cabs in that area would be more, or we'd be cheated.

Cannot fault it.Posted Jun 24, 2014
I stayed in this hotel for 2 weeks and I cannot fault it one bit. Room cleaned everyday, staff beyond helpful (I stayed alone for the first week and a half and then my mother joined me - staff more than happy to put an extra bed in room and mother pay the difference) Breakfast delicious. It genuinely was the best holiday of my life, Athens is incredible and the location, cleanliness and friendliness of this hotel was the cherry on top. Would recommend and can't wait to stay again.
