“True Diamond in the Rough”

O&B is the best hotel we've stayed in Europe yet. The staff is very nice and helpful. We were greeted with an upgrade upon check-in, which included a bigger room, complimentary amenities and a welcome plate of hors d'oeuvres. The Acropolis can literally be seen from the hotel's location, and is about a 10 minute walk to many of the ruins, and the city's downtown. Breakfast was great. Fresh bread and pastries, cereal, cheeses and cold cuts, and fruits are laid out buffet style for the guests. You are asked if you'd like coffee or fresh orange juice to drink. Water was poured for us when we were seated. Our first morning they made us omelette upon request, and the next days, scrambled eggs, sausage or bacon, and tomatoes were part of the buffet. We always came home to a fresh room. It would be made up in the day, and we noticed that coming home later in the night, the bed was prepared without the extra bed covers and decorative pillows so it's ready to sleep on. The staff also recommended us to a restaurant just around the corner that had live music, and pretty good food (if fall off the bone pork shank is your thing). Overall, I would stay here again. While the surrounding area seems a bit shady, and rough (though big cities/downtowns in Europe seem to all resemble the same background), it really didn't take away from the great experience the hotel provided.

Nightlife
Ask the hotel about the nightlife area in Athens. I believe it's called "Technopolis." They had a row of bars and restaurants that were alive and happening come night time. Sit back and relax for drinks or have coffee and dessert to some upbeat music.

just a uneasiness with the area the staff does not hide the fact that the area could be better and ensure you that it is safe but walking back in the evenings were always questionable

“Good hotel in a convenient location”

Don't bother with the streets close to the hotel, only 2 blocks down and you are in Ancient Agora. 2 blocks up and you are in the nice Plaka. The room is small but very clean and well equipped. The service is extremely friendly.

“Charming Hotel With a GREAT Location”

O&B Athens Boutique Hotel was a charming hotel that exceeded my expectations. The location was perfect as it was walking distance to shopping, restaurants, the Acropolis, and the Plaka shopping district. The staff was very friendly and very helpful. They gave detailed directions on how to get places, and also made arrangements for taxis. The room was nicely decorated and very spacious unlike other hotels I have stayed at in European countries. The shower was wonderful and had great water pressure - something I tend not to find in hotels! The little extras like bathrobes and turn down service made this experience even better. I would definitely stay at O&B again and would reccommend it to anyone visiting Athens!

“A gem of a hotel in a great location!”

A very pleasant, comfortable hotel with a "family" feel to it. Everyone was so welcoming and helpful. It is located within blocks of a busy pedestrian walkway and bustling area of restaurants and cafes...and close to the Acropolis and Parthenon. What a great introduction to Athens.

“Amazing hotel, close to Acropolis and market, a little hard to find”

This place was amazing! The staff was extremely friendly, they brought us complimentary greek desert and liquer when we got there. The room was very nice at a great price... a little small but I think standard for a hotel room on the mainland of Greece. The only complaint is that it's a little hard to find. If you are coming from the airport, I would pay the cash for the taxi instead of the metro. The metro ride takes a long time, gets really crowded, and then spits you out several blocks away from the hotel. Plus, the road signs are bad, so it's worthwhile to have someone bring you there that knows where they are going... and cabs are REALLY cheap in Greece (compared to US). The hotel staff made great recommendations, booked things for us, and even packed us a breakfast/lunch for our ferry ride to Santorini. I would go back in a heartbeat!

“Could Not Have Asked For More...”

The staff took care of everything we needed. They called taxis whenever we needed one, their suggestions of restaurants were always outstanding. They provided us with maps and took the time to mark out the routes and explain them to us. They arranged any tour or activity that we wanted to participate in. They could not have been more helpful and polite. They would not even let us iron our clothes. They sent the maid to our room to pick up our clothes and return them to our room. When we were out, we would come back to find our newly pressed clothes hanging in the closet. Breakfast was delicious and if you wanted something that was not already prepared (I cannot imagine what that would have been) they would happily make it for you. The hotel was located within walking distance of everything from shopping to dining to tourist attractions. This was my first incounter with a "Boutique" hotel and it was an great experience. I would definately stay at the O&B Athens Boutique Hotel again and would recommend it to everyone.

Area recommendations
You should definately make the effort to climb to the Acropolos and the Parthenon. The view of Athens from that vantage point is unbelievable. You should walk the Plaka for shopping in more upscale shops. No touristie junk found here.
When to go
We were there late May and the weather was great. It's always a little crowded in Athens. You try living in a city of 6 million people the size of Athens plus the tourists. You get use to the crowds.
Getting around
Please do not rent a car in this city. The driving and traffic is CRAZY. Leave the madness to the taxi drivers. They are used to the crazy driving. The tiny roads are shared by motorcycles, scooters, cars and taxis and everyone wants to go the same way at the same time. No one obeys traffic lights or stop signs. Hire a taxi driver with a meter, close your eyes and pray. You will get there safe and sound as long as you do not watch the road on the way.
Dining
Take the time to have dinner at Kucina's. It's just around the corner from the hotel and It sits below the hill the where the Acropolos and the Parthenon are located. Both are illuminated at night and the view is amazing. The food is delicious. Never try to rush through a meal anytime. Dining in Greece is meant to be an experience, so you will never feel like you are being pushed to finish a meal.

“Incredible Hotel in Athens”

We started off the trip with a two day delay in the states and were forced to cancel two days of our reservation with less than 24 hours notice. The hotel staff was very understanding and provided a refund immediately. Once we arrived in Athens we were met upon check-in with news that our ferry the next day was cancelled due to a strike. The staff immediately got on the phone to help us figure out what we needed to do to rebook our tickets. In short, the hotel staff made sure we were as comfortable as possible during the entire stay; they helped with restaurant information, they provided maps and directions, and were the most pleasant group of people we came across. The hotel is located about two blocks away from the metro station. It's very convenient. At night, there is plenty of activity in the surrounding streets but not so much to make the rooms noisy. The rooms are unbelievably clean and modern and incredibly comfortable-great to go back to after hours of sightseeing.

Area recommendations
The area that this hotel is in is very safe. My husband and I felt very comfortable walking at night. It's also very convenient to the Acropolis and other attractions. The metro is also very close.

“Small room meant less value for money”

The O&B hotel fits well into the boutique catagory. The staff was friendly and attentive. The Monostiraki area was convenient and edgy enough with flea market area abutting Thisso metro - restaurant area. The biggest issue was the extremely small room size in that it was difficult for two adults to navigate the narrow spaces between bed and walls/furniture. We did not feel that this warranted the room cost.
