Wonderful hotel close to Piraeus port

Posted Jul 28, 2014
I spent one night at Piraeus Theoxenia Hotel after a long, trying day of travel throughout the Cyclades islands. I was so impressed with the attentiveness of the staff and the provisions of the room. For the first time during my 3-week stay in Greece, I was able to spoil myself with a bubble bath, and the hotel also provided a robe and slippers. The minibar was fully stocked and the staff gave me all the information I needed for a comfortable stay upon my arrival. I had an early ferry connection the next morning before breakfast time, so they made me sandwiches to take with me on my trip! This hotel went above and beyond my expectations and I would definitely book again if I come back to Athens. Highly recommended.

excellent hotel close to ferry transfers

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Clean, modern, well kept and well run as are most Theoxenias in which we have stayed over the years.
Cons: The picnic breakfast although efficiently prepared.
Location: Microlimano, small ex-fishing village, now boating harbour surrounded by fish restaurants. An attractive place for a simple evening meal.
Well appointed, quiet, comfortable, good breakfast, excellent dinner, extremely helpful staff. Away from the chaos of the port but within easy access for transfers to other islands and to the airport bus stop.

Nice hotel close to the ferries

Posted Jul 18, 2014
It's a great hotel for anyone looking to take an early morning ferry from the Piraeus. Hotel staff and facilities were excellent and extremely helpful, a good contrast from the actual town which is dingy and run down

Very well placed hotel if you are catching a ferry

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: Convenience for ferries
Cons: Nothing
Location: Close to ferries
Nice clean comfortable hotel that was ideal for us as we were catching a 7am next day. It was too early to get breakfast at the hotel so they gave yes sandwiches. Just a 10 min walk to the ferry. Very helpful staff and good value.

Nice place close to port

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Helpful staff.
Cons: This appears to apply to most hotels in Greece, but I do prefer a proper shower in my bathroom rather than a bath/shower...
Location: Don't think there's much to see in Piraeus, but if you are planning to leave by ferry then the location is perfect.
We booked here for one night and only stayed about 12 hours as we were catching an early ferry, but the staff were very helpful and friendly. Rooms are smart and clean, as are bathrooms. Didn't eat at the restaurant but it seemed decent. Perfect location for those planning a ferry trip, as we very easily walked, luggage and all, down to the port in the morning with no issues.

Very accommodating staff, including restaurant

Once we upgraded our room, all was lovely. The least expensive room -- our original choice -- was dark but staff immediately met our needs once we requested a change

Handy to the port.

Posted Jun 10, 2014
Pros: Staff friendliness
Cons: As above
Location: Great for ease of access to port.
Standard room, clean and well maintained. Needs more facilities such as kettle for tea/coffee. Also needs iron and ironing board. Generally value for money.

Old and dark rooms

Only stayed for a night, but the staff weren't very accommodating for a 5* hotel. Really dark rooms

Excellent! Fit what I needed as it was near port

Posted May 19, 2014
Pros: Clean, spacious, wonderful front desk and staff. Helped out with queries and questions.
Cons: Nothing at all
Location: It's very conveniently located to the port.
Wonderful easy location to get about. Near to port and railway station. Easy to walk about. Just that around there, not much food to eat at night (past 7pm) so either eat at hotel which is not ex and tastes good, or grab your bite when u r exploring acropolis there /plaka. Would just like to highlight not to eat at this restaurant exactly near the port - Metsobos Restaurant- it is directly opposite one of the gates to enter into the port. Dirty place with cheap tables and chairs outside. We were cheated of the price of the food as we order the 1.99eur gyro and pointed to the sticker on the wall which clearly wrote 1.99/gyro. When food came, it came on a plate. Which we were surprised but we tot we had to roll it ourselves. When the bill came it was a shocking 19eur for 2 gyros and 3 cokes. The gyros cost eur5 each!!!! When we questioned him, he said "you pointed at the menu to tell me which meat you wanted so u picked the other gyro" when we said we did want to pay, he said too bad u ate already! What bad service! Don't go there pls!!!
